The Pennsylvania Dutch Country of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania!

Lancaster County

About 22,000 old order Amish live in Lancaster County, about half of the Amish people that call Pennsylvania home. They live in the southeast countryside around the towns of Ephrata, Bird-In-Hand, Intercourse, Paradise, and Strasburg, making this the 2nd oldest Old Order community in the country. As the Amish population grows, the four million tourists who journey this way each year are helping more and more of them make a living.

In Lancaster County, handmade Amish Quilts and Mennonite furniture, more like works of art than household goods, are sold from the makers own homes and at retail outlets. The Amish goal is to be self-sufficient from the outside World.
