Day 2 – Janesville to Shipshewana, IN

After an included breakfast at the hotel we depart on our day’s journey to Shipshewana, IN. Along the way we will spend time at The Shrine of Christ’s Passion. The Shrine is a multi-media interactive, half-mile winding trail that depicts the last days of Jesus’ life. Forty life-sized bronze sculptures in a tranquil setting, complete with beautiful music and amazingly sculptured gardens, allow visitors to experience the story of the crucifixion and resurrection as never before. Arriving in Shipshewana, we’ll check into the Blue Gate Garden Inn before we enjoy a tasty dinner and the new musical, The Christmas Candy Caper. After years of playing pranks on her family and friends, Candy Shop owner Lydia Miller experiences real-life holiday danger when two men break into her shop to steal her coveted candy recipe. But what began as a burglary, quickly escalates into a kidnapping when the burglars realize how much the town loves Lydia and that they will come after them to save her – thus figuring they can make far more money in ransom pay. Unfortunately, being the Amish girl who cried wolf once too often, the town believes the note is just another one of Lydia’s pranks and they pay it no mind. This leads to a hilarious back and forth between the kidnappers, the police chief, the bishop, the mayor, and various family members and friends.

Over the next few days we’ll delight in touring this Amish community, shopping the many local craft shops, partaking in Amish family-style dining, and just enjoying the slower, peaceful country lifestyle. From meat-and-potatoes meals to scratch-made pastries and pies, this is the place to savor the bounty of genuine Amish kitchen cooking. Tonight we’ll ring in the holiday season with Scott Keo, the world’s #1 Michael Bublé tribute band, as they bring the smooth and sweet sounds of Christmas alive in their Michael Bublé Christmas Tribute Show! This is show is filled with good old-fashioned swing and jazz crooning along with a modern day feel. Scott matches Bublé’s incredible buttery vocals and brings amazing stage presence and crowd interaction to the show.

Day 4 – Berlin

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll stop at the Worlds Largest Cuckoo Clock. Featured on the cover of the Guinness Book of World Records in 1977, the World’s Largest Cuckoo Clock is located in the center of Swiss Village in Sugarcreek. The clock is over 23 feet tall and 24 feet wide. Every half hour, a cuckoo bird pops out and then you hear Swiss polka music playing as the band emerges and a couple dances. Then we’ll visit the fascinating Ernest Warther Museum. It all started when Ernest Warther lost his father at the age of three, in 1888, forcing him to take his first job at the age of five. It was during that cow-herding job that Ernest earned the nickname “Mooney,” Swiss for ‘bull of the herd,’ which stayed with him for life. But what ultimately changed the course of his life was when he found a pocketknife in the dirt road. He picked it up, started whittling, and never set it down for another 82 years. Although the knife changed over the years, Mooney’s determination, ingenuity, and artistic ability never did. In those 82 years, he would hand-sculpt over sixty works focusing around the steam-engine. The result earned him the title of the World’s Master Carver. The Ernest Warther Museum and Gardens is built around the original location of Ernest and his wife’s home (we’ll see it all decorated for Christmas!), his original workshop, and the first museum which opened in 1936 in their backyard. Lunch is included at the museum before we depart for a free afternoon. If you’d like to find some special Amish-made Christmas presents, now is your chance! Dinner is served at the Dutch Valley Restaurant before we head to the Ohio Star Theatre for a wonderful Christmas concert by The Hoppers, known as the Favorite Family of Gospel Music! We’ll experience sincere worship, lively entertainment, and a belly laugh comedy routine all in one. It will be a great way to start off our Christmas season! Rest well tonight as we have another full day planned for tomorrow.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5 – Berlin

After another breakfast, we will set out on an all-day Amish tour of the surrounding areas with a local, step-on guide. A taste of what we will see and experience is a demonstration at Lamp and Light Candles, a demonstration at Holmes Broom, time at famous Lehman’s Hardware Store which has been selling non-electric tolls & homesteading supplies since 1955, JRC Woodcrafting, and Heini’s Cheese Chalet! Upon returing to Berlin, we’ve planned another dinner at Dutch Valley Restaurant since it was just so good. Tonight the Ohio Star Theatre is hosting a Christmas show by Dailey & Vincent and we’re so glad to be guests! With many accolades, we will be wowed by these elite performers in American music. Perhaps we’ll hear “Mary Did You Know,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Mr. Grinch,” & “Silver Bells.”

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 6 – Berlin to Shipshewana, IN

Have one last breakfast at the Berlin Encore before we retrace our route back to Shipshewana. Why? Because this afternoon, we have tickets to Daniel O’Donnell’s Christmas Show! The show is a unique production that features a nostalgic trip down memory lane as he performs hit after hit in the first part of the show. Then, when the curtain is raised for the second half, the stage is transformed into a Yuletide setting which will feature Daniel singing many Christmas favorites, including “White Christmas,” “Merry Christmas To You,” and countless other festive classics from across the decades. Afterwards an Amish dinner is served at the Blue Gate Restaurant before we check into our hotel.
