Chicago in the Spring

Day 1 – Home to Chicago
This morning we depart on the Empire Builder train to Chicago. We’ll enjoy the sights along the way, passing Lake Pepin and arriving in Chicago late afternoon. Our motorcoach will meet us and we’ll settle into our hotel for a three night stay. A welcome dinner is at Bob Chinn’s Crab House.

Day 2 – Chicago
Breakfast is served at the hotel before we welcome a local step-on guide to show us the sights of Chicago. Visit the Shedd Aquarium, one of the world’s largest indoor aquariums. Later enjoy an architectural cruise and lunch on the delightful river that winds through downtown Chicago. Visit Magnificent Mile, with it’s glittering department stores, American Girl Place, and the must see Water Tower vertical shopping mall. See the historic Water Tower and Pumping Station, and the Wrigley building headquarters of Wrigley Chewing Gum. Enjoy a tour of Marshall Fields Department Store, learn about the history and see the spectacular Tiffany mosaic dome and more. An outstanding dinner is served in the Walnut Room at Marshall Fields where Chicagoans have eaten for generations.

Day 3 – Chicago
Enjoy a leisurely breakfast at the hotel before we depart for the Chicago Botanic Garden that is actually 26 gardens in one. From the romantic English Walled Garden to the wild Midwestern Prairie. This afternoon tour the Cuneo Mansion with its opulent Venetian style architecture. Later browse the historic town of Long Grove, a charming little village settled in the 1800’s by a group of German farmers. The Village is best known for its gifts, antique shops, and spectacular art galleries. This evening you are special guests at the Marriott Lincolnshire Theater. Enjoy dinner and a show at this award-winning theater.

Day 4 – Chicago to Home
Depart for home after breakfast at the hotel. Lunch is on your own at Burnstad’s European Cafe with time for browsing all the charming shops. We will return home this evening.
