Day 1 – Overnight Flight to Europe/Italy

Today board your overnight flight to Europe. An R&J Tour Director is there to assist you throughout your tour.

 

Day 2 – Arrive Italy!

Arrive in Florence where we’ll meet our local, expert guide before heading to the resort and spa town of Montecatini Terme for a 7-night stay. This evening enjoy a Welcome Dinner.

Hotel: Hotel Settentrionale Esplande or Hotel Puccini, Montecatini Terme, Italy (7 Nights!)

Day 3 – Siena & Tuscan Winery

This morning travel to the heart of Tuscany to enjoy a Siena City Tour. Stroll the medieval streets with a local guide to the dramatic Campo, scene of the annual Palio Horse Race, and see the famous striped Siena Cathedral. Later travel through some of Tuscany’s beautiful countryside dotted with olive & fig trees and picturesque rolling hills filled with vineyards. Stop for a Tuscan Winery Visit & Tasting experience where you will learn about and sample a selection of local wines. Continue through the lush countryside back to your Montecatini Terme hotel.

Day 4 – Florence

This morning enjoy a Florence City Tour featuring a visit to the Academy Gallery to see Michelangelo’s original Statue of David, a truly awesome sight. Then view the Cathedral to see Giotto’s Belltower and Baptistry with its impressive ‘Gates of Paradise.’ These buildings demonstrate the traditions of Florentine art and architecture from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. Also see the open air museum of Piazza Della Signoria & Santa Croce, which houses the tombs of Michelangelo and Galileo. The insightful walking tour also features a stroll across the famous Ponte Vecchio Bridge lined with shops. Later explore this beautiful city on your own—shop for gold jewelry & leather items and enjoy an outdoor cafe.

Day 5 – Montecatini Terme at Leisure

Today enjoy an entire day at leisure. Maybe stroll along quaint pedestrian streets and cafes located in the Montecatini Terme town center. Perhaps shop at some of the specialty boutiques or have lunch at one of the many restaurants. An optional tour will be available to picturesque Portofino on the Italian Riviera.

Day 6 – San Gimignano – Tuscan Cooking Class Experience

The Tuscan experience continues as you drive through the region, passing scenic small towns, villages, estates & stone farmhouses before arriving to visit the famous hilltop town of San Gimignano. The town is one of the most picturesque of Italy’s perfectly preserved medieval towns with medieval towers, built in the 12th century, visible from afar. Enjoy a stroll through the quaint streets of San Gimignano and visit Piazza della Cisterna, one of Italy’s most beautiful town squares. Later enjoy a Tuscan Cooking Class Experience featuring an included lunch of local specialties and a glass of Chianti Wine, the most famous of the Tuscany area produced wines. Enjoy the scenic return to Montecatini for an evening at leisure.

Day 7 – Montecatini Terme at Leisure

Today enjoy an entire day at leisure. Maybe visit one of the local spas, play a round of golf or ride the funicular. Perhaps shop at a local market and enjoy a cappuccino in a cafe. An optional tour will be available.

Day 8 – Lucca & Pisa

Travel to Lucca where you explore the Old Town filled with quaint shops and Gothic Palaces. Later visit one of the most famous cities in Italy, Pisa. Here you will stroll into the Piazza Dei Miracoli to see the Duomo, the historic Baptistry and the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa. The tower is 180 feet high and no less than 13 feet off of the perpendicular; an amazing sight to see. Tonight enjoy a Farewell Dinner at a popular local restaurant featuring a festive Italian meal and regional wine.

Day 9 – Italy to Home

Fly home with grand memories of the Country Roads of Tuscany.
