1st DAY Home to Kansas City
Today we begin our journey to exciting Cajun Country and the deep south. Relax and visit with new friends at the hotel in Kansas City this evening.

2nd DAY Kansas City to Little Rock
Take a scenic drive with sweeping vistas of the lovely Ozark Mountain country. We’ll stop for a light lunch in Branson before our afternoon journey to Little Rock, Arkansas.

3rd DAY Little Rock to Natchez
Travel deep into the south to Vicksburg, steeped in history. Tour the National Military Park , one of the best preserved Civil War Battlefields in America. It’s here that one of the Civil War’s most devastating battle took place, the focal point of the Union campaign to seize control of the great Mississippi and divide the Confederacy. Arrive in Natchez and enjoy dinner at a the lovely Magnolia Hall. Tonight enjoy a presentation called “Southern Exposure”.

4th DAY Natchez
A local guide joins us for the annual Pilgrimage Tour, a special time that captures the grace and elegance of the Old South. Enjoy the Natchez Pilgrimage Tour of Homes as we tour some of the beautiful antebellum mansions. This evening the Civil War will come to life at the Confederate Pageant performance.

5th DAY Natchez to Lafayette
After breakfast, journey into the heart of “Cajun Country,” immortalized in Longfellow’s epoc poem, “Evangeline.” Cruise along the swamps and bayous, America’s largest undeveloped wetland. You may see alligators, turtles, and water fowl. We’ll also stop in the charming river town of St. Martinsville. This evening R & J Tours has arranged for a local couple to accompany us to Mulate’s, a cajun dance hall, for a delicious dinner and dancing. Enjoy entertainment, good friends, and great conversation.

6th DAY Lafayette to New Orleans
Depart Lafayette for New Orleans where a locally guided tour features the sights of the French Quarter, including St. Loius Cathedral and its adjoining Cabildo; Bourbon Street Jazz District, French Market Place, Pirate’s Alley, Garden District, and the bustling harbor front. Your hotel is located in the heart of the French Quarter to give you an opportunity to truly experince this exciting area. You are within walking distance of lots of charming shops and restaurants. Board the sternwheeler Steamboat Natchez, as we cruise the mighty Mississippi River for dinner accompanied by live jazz entertainment!

7th DAY New Orleans
Enjoy a leisurely day with time to stroll the French Quarter for a close look at the lush, hidden courtyards and wrought iron balconies the French Quarter is famous for. You may have the option of signing up for the New Orleans School of Cooking Class. Stop in at historic Cafe Du Monde for the famous cafe au lait and beignet’s. This evening we’ll board a horse-drawn carriage for a delightful ride through the French Quarter. The wonderful sounds of jazz and Dixieland music dance as the delightful aroma of Creole and Cajun cooking fills the air. Dinner is at your leisure.

8th DAY New Orleans to Biloxi
Join us for a jazz brunch at the Court of Two Sisters, one of New Orleans premier restaurants. The food is great and the entertainment is grand. Motor along the sparkling Gulf Coast to the city of Biloxi, a resort city famous for its shrimp and fishing fleets. Take a cruise along the scenic coastline and learn first hand the art of shrimping. Our sea captain will throw out the nets and see and identify everything that is caught. Drive past picturesque harbors, Biloxi Light House and the historic Church of the Redeemer. Your home for the next two nights is at Mirage’s newest resort, The Beau Rivage, perfectly placed on Biloxi’s sparkling beachfront.

9th DAY Biloxi
Tour famous Bellingrath Gardens and Home with it’s 65 acre floral wonderland, boasting every color of the rainbow! Stop at the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, a 100 acre park with two main attractions, the USS Alabama and the Submarine USS Drum, both participants in many World War II sea battles. Return to the resort for a leisurely late afternoon and evening. Enjoy a walk along the beach and choose from one of the many cafes and restaurants featuring dining entertainment.

10th DAY Biloxi to Memphis
Today we travel through Hattiesburg and on into Memphis. We’ll check into the lovely Hampton Inn perfectly located steps from Beale Street and connected to Peabody Place. Tour Graceland, the beautiful estate of the “King of Rock-n-Roll”, Elvis Presley. This evening some may want to head down to Beale Street for dinner and entertainment on your own.

11th DAY Memphis – Kansas City
Motor through Missouri enroute to Kansas City where we will check into our hotel. Relax and enjoy good company and conversation with our new traveling friends.

After breakfast we make our final stretch home. Lunch today will be at the Machine Shed Restaurant serving a delicious home-cooked meal. It’s good to get away on a lovely holiday, but it’s always nice to return home!
