“How wonderful to learn all the history of our nation that was founded on God’s Word.”  Lois, Minneapolis MN

“This was one of the most informative, meaningful & wonderful trips we have taken. Historic Washington DC should be on everyone’s bucket list!” Sue & John, Maplewood

Day 1 – Home to Washington DC

This morning we begin our tour with a flight to Washington DC. We will stop for lunch and then head over to the United States Capitol Building where we will be treated to a tour (if they are accepting tours.) Otherwise we’ll have more time to explore the Smithsonian Museums, which are our next stop. For our fabulous dinner we are guests at the famous and historic Old Ebbitt Grill, which was established in 1856 & has been a popular meeting place throughout the years for presidents, celebrities, and others! We then check into our hotel which is home for the next five nights.

Hotel: Hampton Inn & Suites (5 Nights) (in Alexandria)

Included Meals: Dinner

Day 2 – Baltimore, MD

Board the motorcoach, sit back and relax as we head to Baltimore, Maryland! Watch the sites of DC go by as we make our way even further east. We have a step-on guide joining us, giving us the history of one of the country’s most unique and eclectic cities. It’s the birthplace of basebell legend Babe Ruth, the final resting place of Edgar Allen Poe, and it has America’s first Washington Monument. Our afternoon stop will be Fort McHenry, which played an important role in the War of 1812. However, it is best known for the words that were penned by Francis Scott Key upon seeing the flag flying over the fort on the morning after the battle…”gave proof through the night that our flag was still there…”. These words later became our National Anthem. We will go to the Top of the World Observation Deck level of the World Trade Center where you can get an incredible view of the city and the bay. After dinner on your own, board the motorcoach for a relaxing ride back to our hotel.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 3 – Washington DC

Today we have a full day of touring the DC area with our informative step-on guide. We will visit the Memorials/Monuments of Jefferson, Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean, WWII, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and more. Further touring in the heart of Washington DC will give us even more insight to our historical capital. Step out near the White House for photo ops. We will make a stop for lunch on your own. Tonight we will take you to Old Town Alexandria where you can shop and dine on your own.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 4 – Washington DC

Rise and shine to a mouth-watering breakfast before we head to Arlington National Cemetery and witness the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. See where President John F. Kennedy was laid to rest with the Eternal Flame marking his gravesite. This cemetery will be one of the most impressive sites you will ever see. This afternoon you are free for more exploration of the incredible Smithsonian Museums such as the Museum of American History, the Museum of Natural History, the American Art Museum, or visit the Holocaust Museum and learn about the torture that the Jews endured. Whichever museum you choose to take in, it will be an incredible learning experience and one you will not soon forget. Tonight dinner is served at Ted’s Montana Grill, an old-west style steakhouse.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 5 – Washington DC

Today we visit The Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception where we will attend the 9 AM Mass. If you choose not to attend Mass, you can wander down stairs and visit the crypt or Memorial Hall, there are over 70 chapels and oratories to take in. Even if you aren’t Catholic, you will be impressed by this prominent Roman Rite Catholic basilica, the largest in the United States. Afterwards we drive to the Mt. Vernon Inn where we will enjoy a fantastic meal, before we walk next door to George Washington’s Mount Vernon Estate. Tour the residence, see the resting place of George and Martha, walk the plantation grounds, and sit on a bench along the Potomac and take in the breathtaking view. We then go back to the hotel for a good night’s rest before our departure tomorrow.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
