We have planned this Antique getaway with you in mind. Today’s antique shops hold more in store than the shops of yesteryear. Along with a great selection of antiques, you now will also find a large assortment of home décor, collectibles, retro and repurposed items, as well as vintage jewelry, clothing, boutique items, and architectural salvage. There is now something for everyone! We promise it will be a great “treasure hunting experience.” Join us and let’s revisit our past together. We will visit Des Moines, IA; Walnut, Iowa’s Antique City; Omaha & Lincoln, NE. We will spend a grand amount of time treasure hunting, attending theaters and museums, along with a variety of wonderful cuisines and culinary adventures.

Day 1 – Home to Des Moines, IA

We depart this morning and enjoy lunch together at the beautiful historic Decker House in Mason City. After our included lunch, we will step next door to the 1895 Queen Anne style home and birthplace of Meredith Wilson, better known as “The Music Man.” We will also spend time enjoying the 1912 streetscape and museum, and stop for an ice cream treat at the historic Ice Cream Parlor before heading on our way. Coming up is our first Antique Mall in Story City, and it’s a good one where you will find your first “must have!” Our evening meal will take us to the Chips Restaurant, before heading off to the wonderful Brass Armadillo Mall. Our hotel for the night is The Drury Inn, one of our favorite places to stay.

Included Meals: Lunch, Dinner

Hotel: Drury Inn

Day 2 – Des Moines to Omaha, NE

After our hot breakfast we leave for a full day of antiquing. Stopping by the Majestic Lion Antique Mall is a great way to start our day. You will love it! Just next door we will shop at the I-80 Flea Market where anything and everything can readily be found. By now we have worked up an appetite, so off to The Machine Shed we head for our included noon lunch. Our next destination will be a winner. Our coach motors down the road to Iowa’s Antique City, Walnut. Here we will spend several hours scouting a dozen antique shops. What a bonanza! Weary feet take us back to the coach to finish our journey for the day. We will enjoy a pizza party at our hotel, before we are treated to a night of drama at The Omaha Performing Arts. The Broadway play we will witness is “Once,” set on the streets of Dublin. We will give you no more clues, just sit back, relax, and enjoy the show. After a long and exciting day, we arrive at our home away from home, the Hampton Inn and Suites.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Pizza Party

Hotel: Hampton Inn – Downtown Omaha

Day 3 – Omaha

This morning after our included breakfast at the hotel, we will be guests on a tour of The Toilet Paper Factory in Omaha. It will be a very inspirational tour as most, if not all, of the factory workers on the line are blind. The workers come to work with their guide dogs and work on the assembly line. Machines are programmed to communicate with them. The toilet paper made is for all of the United States military bases. A special gift is given to each visitor at the end of the tour….it’s something we can use every day! Next on the itinerary is a very unique stop that we promise you will not believe until you experience it for yourself. It is called The Fairmont Antiques & Mercantile Shop combined with The Hollywood Candy Co! Noon lunch will be provided at The Lithuanian Bakery, where the Machevicius family will give a very interesting presentation on their country, how they came to start their bakery, and the process of making their breads. The final antique mall for the day is The Brass Armadillo in Omaha, a favorite of many. After checking into the hotel we head nearby to the Summer Kitchen, where desserts are their specialty. You will have the evening on your own.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Hotel: Hampton Inn – LaVista

Day 4 – Omaha to Lincoln, NE

Once again enjoy breakfast at our hotel before we journey on to the Platte Valley Mall. It is a favorite of ours and we have yet to leave there without a package. They have a quaint little spot to enjoy coffee and a bite to eat, so we will do just that. Our afternoon hunting grounds will be The Aardvark Mall, Lincoln’s largest mall. We will check into our hotel for the night, enjoying dinner at the Embassy Grille, before heading to The Lincoln Community Playhouse, where we will be entertained by the fabulous Broadway musical “Oklahoma.”

Included Meals: Breakfast, Brunch, Dinner

Hotel : Embassy Suites – Downtown Lincoln (2 Nights)

Day 5 – Lincoln

This is our last day to antique hunt. Breakfast will fill us up, and we will be ready to do up the Lincoln shops. We will start out our day at The Antique Corner Co-op full of old style, and move on to C. Middleton, just next door. It is stuffed full of yesterday’s, today’s, and tomorrow’s treasures – it is sweet, quaint, and comfy. We will finish up our morning by stopping at two shops, Timeless Treasures and Vintage Villages. This will add to our “gotta have it” take home pile! Lunch will be included at Lazlos Brewery & Grill in Haymarket historic area, a favorite stop for the hometown crowd. Our afternoon hunt is also in Historic Haymarket and is possibly the finest Antique Mall on this trip. Burlington Antiques has been Lincoln’s finest for over 28 years and will be our last antique shop on this tour. Back at the hotel you can either partake of the complimentary snacks, take in your evening meal at Embassy Bar & Grill at our hotel, or choose from one of the restaurants nearby.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 6 – Lincoln to Home

Our last breakfast together before heading home. We’ll stop for a morning coffee break and noon lunch at Golden Corral in Sioux City. Spend the last miles until home sharing your antique treasures and memories with your new traveling friends.
