Then we’ll check into our hotel for the next two nights before dinner is served in the heart of Amish Country at Carriage Crossing Restaurant, which has been featured in Midwest Living and Taste of Home magazines!

Day 3 – Hutchinson

Today we’ll first tour the Strataca, the only underground salt mine museum in the United States. Journey into a raw portion of the salt mine where virtually everything is exactly as it was left over 50 years ago. “What goes into the mine stays in the mine.” This ride-along adventure takes you through an area of the mine that includes lit areas explaining the challenges and unique solutions required to keep mines safe and functional. After lunch on our own, we will make our way to the Fox Theatre. We’ll tour this historic 1931 “movie palace.” The Fox is considered one of the finest examples of theatre art deco architecture in the Central United States with its pressed aluminum and metallic glazed terra cotta floral, vegetal, and geometric reliefs, door moldings, capitals and bases, stair railings, light fixtures, cartouches, friezes, and other decorative features. Then we will return to our hotel to freshen up before a tasty dinner is served at The Barn Restaurant.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 – Hutchinson to Oklahoma City, OK

Breakfast is served before we tour the Cherokee Strip Regional Museum, a historical museum that tells the fascinating story of the settlement and development of NW Oklahoma, beginning with the Land Run of 1893. Then we’ll continue on to Oklahoma City to stay for the next two nights. We’ll spend the afternoon at the Oklahoma City Memorial Museum & Grounds. Remembering those who were killed, those who survived and those changed forever, the Memorial offers comfort, strength, peace, hope and serenity. We’ll end our day with an included dinner and an original theater production – that will have us laughing – at the Yellow Rose Theater.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Hotel: Holiday Inn Express (2 Nights)

Day 5 – Oklahoma City

This morning we will enjoy some leisure time before our full day begins. First we will head to the American Banjo Museum, featuring the world’s largest collection of banjos! The museum’s collection contains more than 400 instruments, recordings, film, video, printed music, instructional materials, ephemera and memorabilia associated with the banjo. Not only will we enjoy a tour here, but also lunch and entertainment that will get our toes tapping and our hands clapping! This afternoon we’ll visit the Express Clydesdales Barn and Ranch, home to the beautiful draft horses that have been featured in the Macy’s Day Parade, Rose Parade, & more! They have also been awared the elite status of World Champions in the six and eight-horse hitch! The horse barn was originally built in 1936 and in 1997 was beautifully restored by Amish carpenters from Shipshewana, complete with exposed gambrel ceiling with suspended chandeliers in the hayloft. Next, we’ll have time to experience Langston’s Western Wear with its thousands of cowboy boots before an early dinner is served at Cattlemen’s Steakhouse, located smack in the middle of Oklahoma City’s Stockyards City. Our evening show, the Rodeo Opry, grew from a love of music and a love of family, and has become an important part of Oklahoma’s musical culture and history. This family-friendly, live music show is proclaimed as “Oklahoma’s Official Country Music Show.”

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Late this afternoon get ready for our Pioneer Trails Adventures, the perfect way to wrap up our tour! We will climb aboard mule-drawn covered wagons for a tour of historical sites such as a 1859 Jail & Marshal Home, where Harry S. Truman had his first job, Bess Truman’s birth home, and we’ll ride on the actual Oregon Trail through wagon swales! Our adventure continues with an outdoor barbeque and live music!
