Day 1 – Home to Lincolnshire
We leave today on a great trail ride over the river and through Wisconsin for our first nights stop in Lincolnshire, IL. Check into our hotel and then attend a dinner theatre for Dinner and a production.

Day 2 – Lincolnshire to Georgetown
We drive past Chicago on our way to Indianapolis where lunch will be at a great downtown location before our step-on guide introduces us to the history of the State Capital of Indiana. Then we continue past Cincinnati to our nights stay at Georgetown Kentucky.

Day 3 Georgetown to London, KY
After breakfast we meet our step on guide at the beautiful Keeneland Racetrack where we begin our morning tour of the Thouroughbred Horse industry in Kentucky. We’ll learn about horse race history and get up close and personal with some of the beautiful horses on a local horse farm. Following lunch we continue on to the Renfro Valley where country music got it’s start in Kentucky. After we check into our hotel we’ll enjoy an evening meal and the evening production of “Tribute to Legends” at the Renfro Valley Entertainment Center.

Day 4 London
Motor into the beautiful hills of Kentucky. We’ll imagine the history that is a part of where we travel near the Cumberland trail. We will board the “Big South Fork Scenic Rail” for a ride through the Daniel Boone National Forest and make a stop at an old coal miners camp. We’ll enjoy lunch together before our return trip. Later we’ll travel to Cumberland Falls State park and enjoy breathtaking views of Cumberland Falls, the “Niagara of the South”. Then a drive by the Kentucky Fried Chicken Café in Corbin where Colonel Sanders started it all. It will be time for dinner and then it’s on to the Renfro Entertainment Center for the Saturday night “Barndance”. This is a great variety show that will get us stomping our feet and clapping our hands.

Day 5 London to Bardstown, KY
Follow the trail to historic Danville, “the class of the bluegrass” and take a walking tour of the historic district including Constitutional Square where Kentucky’s statehood began. You will enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants and then we travel on to the Perryville Civil war site, the largest Civil War battle on Kentucky land. Over 7500 soldiers died on this battlefield and we will walk the battleground and remember. We’ll travel on to Bardstown and visit “My Old Kentucky Home” State Park. Tour the Gerogian-style mansion that is as endearing to visitors as it was in 1852 when Stephen Foster wrote the song, “My Old Kentucky Home.” This song has become the official state song. After we check into our Hotel we will enjoy dinner at “The Old Talbott Tavern”. This old Stagecoach stop will take you back in time and charm you as you dine.

Day 6 Bardstown to Normal, IL.
As we’ve traveled the trails through Kentucky more than likely we passed a spot or two where an old “moonshiner” used to distill his “white lightening”. Stop at one of the most historic distilleries in Kentucky, the Jim Beam Bourbon Distillery. We’ll learn about the Bourbon history of Kentucky and if you want—sample some of the product. Then we’ll hit the trail and travel through Louisville on our way north. Our lunch stop will be at the Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor. We’ll step back in time and see the old soda fountains, Tiffany-style lamps and listen to the Welte-Orchestrion. We’ll enjoy great food and of course—ice cream! This afternoon speed is the thing as we stop at the Indianapolis speedway and take a tour around the track before we spend some time in the museum.

Day 7 Normal to Home
We’ll continue our travels towards our homes as we remember the sites and sounds of “Our Old Kentucky Home” travels.
