Day 1  Home to Lake Mille Lacs
Off to Lake Mille Lacs for an afternoon of fishing. Board a launch and head to a hot spot in search of some walleyes. We’ll bait your hook and take your fish off, you just enjoy and catch…no license?  Don’t worry, we’ll take care of that for you as well!  Later, check into Eddy’s Resort for a wonderful evening including a walleye dinner.

Day 2  Lake Mille Lacs to Grand Rapids
It’s off to the Headwaters of the Mississippi at Itasca State Park.  We’ll take a walk across the “Mighty Mississippi” or just a look at the beginnings of this waterway.  Drive through Minnesota Countryside with stops in Bemidji and Akeley on our way to Grand Rapids for the evening.  Check into the Sawmill Inn for a two night stay and our evening meal is a Lumberjack Dinner with all of the fixins.

Day 3  Grand Rapids
We’ll tour the Blandin Paper mill and find out that there really is “no place like home” as we tour the Judy Garland Museum.  Then it’s on to the Hibbing where We’ll stop at Zimmy’s for lunch and view some of the memoriabilia of Minnesota Native and recording artist, Bob Dylan. Later today get a look at the mining industry of the region.

Day 4  Grand Rapids to Ely
As we head through the northwoods towards Ely we’ll make a stop at the Sudan Underground mine, where we’ll travel a half  mile into the earth and view how this mine was run in it’s glory days.  When we get to Ely we’ll take a look at the International Wolf Center before we settle in for the evening at the Grand Ely Lodge on the edge of the Boundary Waters area.

Day 5  Ely to Home
A scenic drive to Lake Superior and then down along the coast breathtaking coast.  Stop at Gooseberry Falls and the Split Rock Lighthouse.  Stop in Duluth for a view of the harbor and Minnesota’s connection to shipping on the great lakes. Continue home as we celebrate the fact that there really is “No place like home.”
