Come Visit R&J’s Hometown: 

Willmar & the surrounding area 

in Kandiyohi County, MN 

Day 1 – Home to Willmar, MN 

Join us as we take you to our wonderful hometown and surrounding area. Our first stop will be the R&J office headquarters, where you’ll be treated like royalty by our staff with a catered brunch, and maybe even some real royalty will join us! After brunch we’ll say goodbye to the R&J family and head out for an afternoon of touring around our city and county, including a couple of very unique farming operations that grow both shrimp and lettuce! After a busy afternoon, we’ll check into our hotel that we’ll call home for the next three nights. A welcome dinner is served right at the Little Crow Tavern & Grill, the beautiful new restaurant overlooking the Little Crow Golf Course.

Day 2 – Brooten & New London 

After our included breakfast at the hotel, we will “Strike Out” to the small town of Brooten, just a short drive from our hotel, to tour a most interesting business: Max Bats. Max Bats manufactures the wooden bats for many major league baseball teams, including our own Minnesota Twins! A very unique, hands-on business, right in our own backyard! Following the tour, we’ll head back to the quaint village of New London, with streets adorned with specialty shops with unique wares for purchase. Lunch is on your own at one of the many local cafes, before you’ll have some free time to explore the village. We’ll freshen up in our rooms before boarding the motorcoach again for a short ride to dinner with our group. After dinner we watch the Little Crow Ski Show at Neer Park in downtown New London. The Little Crow Ski Team was WCCO Viewer’s Choice for Best Water Ski Club in Minnesota in 2018! Our very own Mary Madison even has two children performing on the team!

Day 3 – Willmar 

We rise early to head over to the Willmar Fire Station for the Fireman’s Pancake Feed before we settle into our reserved seating at Willmar’s Grande Day Parade, an annual tradition that celebrates Willmar Fest. Following the parade, we’ll enjoy a picnic in a local park. Then we have options for enjoying the afternoon. We’ll most likely have a little time to freshen up or rest our feet later this afternoon before we dine together for one last evening, topped off with spectacular views of the fireworks over the lake!

Day 4 – Willmar/Spicer to Home 

Today we’ll hope for a beautiful morning as we set sail on a lunch cruise around Green Lake – a perfect opportunity to sit back and relax while you savor a few more hours of small town America. Maybe now that you know your way, you’ll come back on your own very soon! Our last stop today on our way back home will be the Twine Ball Museum in Darwin to view the largest ball of twine ever rolled by one man. Enjoy reminiscing with your new traveling friends about your wonderful visit to Our Hometown!
