Day 1 – Home to Medora, ND

We will travel west today, making our way into the open vistas of the prairies of North Dakota. For dinner we are treated to the nationally acclaimed Pitchfork Steak Fondue along with all the fixin’s – this will be a true delight. Then we spend the evening in the outdoor splendor of the Badlands at the Burning Hills Amphitheater for the unforgettable Medora Musical! Our luxury accommodations tonight are located right in the heart of historic Medora.

Day 2 – Medora to Butte, MT

We depart this morning after a hearty Chuckwagon breakfast served at the hotel. We continue our journey west, stopping for an included lunch at Montana Brewing, before arriving in Butte and checking into the Hampton Inn.

Day 3 – Butte to Spokane, WA

Breakfast is included at the hotel before we make our way out of Montana, across Idaho, and into Washington. Our flyaway travelers join us, then we check into our hotel and have dinner at the hotel’s Sunset Bistro.

Day 4 – Spokane to Leavenworth, WA

After breakfast at the hotel, we’ll make our way west across Washington to the charming town of Leavenworth, where its entire town center is modeled after a Bavarian village! Since Leavenworth is surrounded by peaks, we’ll feel like we’re high in the European Alps! Our night’s accommodations are right in the heart of the village at the lovely Bavarian Lodge. Tonight we are treated to an outdoor performance at the Leavenworth Summer Theatre.

Day 5 – Leavenworth to Winthrop, WA

Breakfast is served at the hotel this morning. Then we depart and descend upon the rustic, old western town of Winthrop, which is set in cowboy, cattle, and horse country. This exciting town is surrounded by breathtaking scenery! We’ll check into the spectacular Sun Mountain Lodge, a remote rustic, ranch-style resort that’s set high on a hilltop, offering magnificent views! Enjoy the pool, tennis courts, walking trails, and much more. This evening head ‘em up and move ‘em out for a hearty cowboy style dinner. We’ll take a leisurely, scenic wagon ride out to an old homestead for a delicious country BBQ.

Day 6 – Winthrop

Our day starts with a leisurely breakfast and time to enjoy the Lodge’s amenities before heading into nearby Winthrop. This western town was made famous in Owen Mister’s The Virginian. After an included lunch, we’ll visit the North Cascades Smokejumper Base, the birthplace of smokejumping, for a fascinating tour. Smokejumping is one of the several methods used to protect natural forest resources from wildfire, and it dates back to 1940 when the first active jumps on a fire were made just 10 miles west of the base. This evening enjoy the beautiful Lodge at leisure.

Day 7 – Winthrop to Victoria, B.C.

This morning our motorcoach travels west through the North Cascades National Park to the port town of Anacortes. We’ll board our ferry (motorcoach and all!) and cruise through the beautiful San Juan Islands, taking in the breathtaking scenery along the way. Docking in Sidney, BC, on Vancouver Island, we’ll motor south to lovely Victoria. We’ll check into the stunning Chateau Victoria, located in the heart of Victoria, for a wonderful two night stay! The convenient location of the hotel creates an ideal base to explore the inviting sidewalks accented with street lamps and hanging baskets. Dinner is on your own to choose from the many restaurants in the area.

Day 8 – Victoria

After breakfast at the hotel, our destination is breathtaking Butchart Gardens, famous for their reputation as one of the world’s most beautiful gardens. In 1904, Robert Butchart developed a limestone quarry and built a cement plant at Tod Inlet. When he had exhausted the limestone deposits, his enterprising wife Jennie turned the abandoned quarry into the spectacular Sunken Garden…and the rest is history! We will thoroughly enjoy exploring the beauty of the Gardens. Hungry? They have three restaurants for you to choose from! This evening a unique dinner is planned for you at the charming and elegant Fairmont Empress Hotel, that first opened in 1908.

Day 9 – Victoria to LaConner, WA

This morning after breakfast we depart for our Washington State Ferrie to Anacortes. Enjoy the scenic drive to LaConner, a charming waterfront village reminiscent of a 17th-century fishing village. Dinner is served at a LaConner favorite, the Nell Thorn Restaurant. Spend the night in this charming seaport town!

Day 10 – LaConner to Lopez Island

This morning after an included breakfast at our hotel there will be time to browse the shops and have lunch on your own in LaConnor. Make sure you have your R&J tote bag packed and are ready for an adventure as we board float planes for an unbelievable flight that takes us to the Islander Resort in Fisherman’s Bay on Lopez Island. This just may be the highlight of your Pacific Northwest tour!! Dinner is included this evening at the resort. Sit back and relax while you take in the gorgeous island sunsets from your balcony!

Day 11 – Lopez Island to Oak Harbor, WA

Wake up to a delightful breakfast at our resort. This morning and early afternoon are on our own to enjoy the 29 square mile island. You may want to walk into the village to browse and have lunch, or rent a bicycle for a leisurely island ride, or you may just want to sit back and enjoy the beauty around you. Later this afternoon we set sail on the Mystic Sea for a cruise in the San Juan Islands, searching for whales and learning why these pods are some of the most researched whales in North America. Enjoy an old-fashioned cracked crab feast lunch with magnificent scenery all around. We’ll dock in Anacortes and then motor across Deception Pass on to Oak Harbor for the night.

Day 12 – Oak Harbor to Seattle, WA

After an included breakfast, we depart Oak Harbor and enjoy our scenic drive through Whidbey Island to Clinton where we will take a ferry (motorcoach and all!) over to Mukilteo. Then we motor to Boeing for a fascinating tour to watch the world’s largest jets be assembled in the world’s largest building by volume. After the tour we will enjoy a box lunch here at Boeing. This afternoon we will take a trip 520 feet up in the air in the iconic Space Needle for 360º view of scenic Seattle! We will also visit the Chihuly Garden and Glass – remarkable creations! Enjoy a farewell dinner all together at Anthony’s Pier 66 before our flyaway passengers depart in the morning.

Day 13 – Seattle to Missoula, MT

Breakfast is served at the hotel before we bid farewell to our flyaway friends. Then we travel eastward across Washington and into Montana for an overnight in Missoula. Dinner is included at Cracker Barrel this evening.

Day 14 – Missoula to Billings, MT

After breakfast we continue to journey east, stopping for lunch at Johnny Carino’s in Bozeman, then overnighting in Billings.

Day 15 – Billings to Bismarck, ND

Have breakfast at the hotel before we begin our travel day, making our way across the final leg of vast Montana and into North Dakota. We will check into the Hampton Inn & Suites in Bismarck.

Day 16 – Bismarck to Home

As we cover the last miles toward home today, enjoy reminiscing with your new traveling friends about your wonderful Pacific Northwest & San Juan Islands experience!
