Paris & London Getaway

 On this getaway, you’ll experience the very best of London and Paris.  London, our first destination, is the capital city of England and of the United Kingdom, and is the most populous city in the European Union. Its population is very cosmopolitan, drawing from a diverse range of peoples, cultures and religions, speaking over 300 different languages.  Next we’ll travel to Paris, situated on the banks of the river Seine in north-central France. The city hosts many museums and galleries, has an active nightlife, and is the most visited city in the world, with more than 30 million visitors per year.

May 2-10, 2008 • 9 Days

Day 1 – Depart Minneapolis
Today we board our flight for London.  Sit back relax and enjoy the flight.

Day 2 – Arrive in London
Arrive in London this morning and enjoy a brief sightseeing en-route to hotel. Tonight you are guests at a welcome dinner.

Day 3 – London               
This morning enjoy an extensive guided tour of London including sights of Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace, the London home to Britain’s royalty since 1837.  Visit St. Paul’s Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. At Westminster, see the houses of Parliament, and see famous Big Ben.  The rest of the day is free in London to pursue your own interests.

Day 4 – London                     
Enjoy a morning visit to Windsor Castle. Explore the medieval St. George’s Chapel, resting place of ten English sovereigns, Queen Mary’s Doll House, a fine collection of master drawings, and nearly 13 acres of beautifully landscaped gardens. Later, visit the Tower of London, the 900-year-old site of executions and imprisonments – now home to the Crown Jewels. Enjoy afternoon tea and a theatre performance of Mary Poppins in London’s West End this evening.

Mary Poppins may be nearing 70, but sheís still a highly sought after super-nanny, and it is only now, 40 years after she made her screen debut that she has finally been enticed onto the stage.  Since it opened in December 2004 in Londonís West End, it has received two Olivier Awards, and remains one of the most sought-after musicals ever!


Day 5 – London to Paris
(Travel by Eurostar Train)
Today travel on the innovative Eurostar High Speed Train to France. Arrive in Paris, the “city of light.” Your beautiful hotel is perfectly located in the heart of Paris within walking distance to the best of shops and cafes.  Dinner is at a delightful French restaurant, before we enjoy a romantic Seine River cruise against a backdrop of Paris’s glittering skyline.

Day 6 – Paris
Start the day with a fascinating city tour of of Paris see the world-famous Arc de Triomphe, Notre Dame Cathedral, Champs Elysees, Place de la Concorde and the magnificent Place Vendome. This afternoon history comes alive as we visit the Louis XIV’s magnificent Palace and Gardens of Versailles.

Day 7 – Paris                         
Enjoy a walking tour through the historic Marais District, including beautiful Place des Vosges.  Visit the Louvre housing some of the world’s most famous masterpieces.  This evening you are free to choose from the many restaurants surrounding the hotel.  Some may want to join an optional evening out: Dinner and Show at the Moulin Rouge for an extra cost.

Day 8 – Paris
R&J Tours has arranged a leisurely day for you to explore this captivating city.  Some may want to browse the elegant shops, visit one of the many museums, or just sit at one of the many outdoor cafes and people watch. Later, explore the winding streets of Montmartre, made famous by artists, poets, and the Moulin Rouge cabaret. Vist famous Notre Dame and take time to browse the elegant shops at Champs Elysees.  This evening you are special guests at a memorable dinner at the Eiffel Tower, featuring breathtaking views of the Paris skyline.

Day 9 – Paris to Minneapolis    
Late morning, we’ll depart for the airport and fly home with fantastic memories of Paris and London engraved in your heart.
