Day 1 – Home to Alexandria, MN

As we make our west, our first stop is at the Rolling Fork Vineyard. Located in Pope County, the vineyard’s setting is perfect with its picturesque views of Lake Minnewaska. We’ll enjoy a wine tasting as well as pizza made with fresh and organic products from local businesses. Keep your eyes out for a familiar face or too as well! Then we are off to Lakes Area Radio Theatre, a real live, old-fashioned radio show, that some may even remember from way back when. Lakes Area Radio Theatre voice actors bring “old time” and “contemporary” written radio stories to life in front of a live studio audience. What a great time we will have! Next, get ready for the Northland Woolens, a small farm nestled in the heart of Minnesota where wool & yarn go hand in hand. The owner states, “Little did I realize what had started when my daughter wanted angora rabbits for a 4-H project. We suddenly had loads of angora fiber to deal with and didn’t know what to do with it. So became the start of our Wool/Angora socks. I had tinkered with spinning and knitting by hand most of my adult life but knew with the demand for wool/ angora socks I had to produce them faster than this type of work would allow. I started with 2 commercial sock knitting machines in the basement of my home and graduated to a larger building on our farm and 32 sock knitting machines.” This will be a great stop with a lot to see and there will be time for shopping. Afterwards, we will check into the Fairfield Inn & Suites before we depart for dinner at Pike & Pint. This wonderful restaurant has handcrafted food made with passion! Now it’s time to attend a wonderful summer performance at the Theatre L’Homme Dieu. Since 1961 Theatre L’Homme Dieu has contributed to the vibrancy and allure of Alexandria and the Lakes area by presenting exceptional theatre & entertainment. We’ll return to the hotel for the night.

Day 2 – Alexandria to Spicer, MN

After a wonderful breakfast, we are off to see Hopeful Hills Alpaca Farm! Jane, the owner, started researching alpacas in 2006. The more she read about them, the more excited she became about these wonderful animals. Her background is in small animal care. Before she started the ranch, Jane worked as a Certified Veterinary Technician at a small animal clinic. She loves animals and has gotten much enjoyment out of caring for her herd. There will be time to shop their unique and wonderland alpaca products. You may even see another familiar face…keep watching. Now let’s go to The Redhead Creamery, where they have been making ridiculously good, artisan cheese on their family dairy farm since 2013. The dream for this sustainable and eco-friendly creamery has been founder (and natural redhead) Alise Sjostrom’s dream since she was 16. We will tour the creamery, sample some cheeses, and enjoy a wonderful lunch – and yes it will include cheese curds! It is now time to travel south as we make our way to Spicer, Minnesota! Have you been on Green Lake before? How long has been since you were fishing? How long has it been since you were on a boat cruise? Well, you can decide if you’d prefer to go fishing or take a scenic boat cruise. Our local Let’s Go Fishing Chapter is happy to bring those that would like to go fishing. Bring nothing as they have everything. (Please let us know when you sign up for this tour which option you choose.) Next, we’ll check into our hotel, The Grand Stay Suites at Little Crow Country Club. Freshen up, then dinner will be served in the conference room right at the hotel. We will enjoy a wonderful two meat buffet will all the extras as well. After dinner you are in for a real TREAT…The R&J Family of employees would love to entertain you for the next hour and show you just how talented (or not) we are! This will be an absolute delightful evening full of fun and laughter!

Day 3 – Spicer to Home

Breakfast is served at the hotel before we make a stop at the R&J Office for a visit. We would love to show you where all our wonderful tours are planned and reservations are taken. Afterwards we’ll travel to Rustic Design Flower Farm, which began in 2011 as a small flower farm and rug studio. We’ll be treated to a tour of flower fields before we enjoy our box lunch. After lunch, get ready to make your very own bouquet. You will learn how to pick the flowers you want, arrange them in the vase, and then you get to take them home to show all your friends your new talent.
