Day 1 – Home to Dubuque, IA

As we make our way to Dubuque, we will first stop at the Field of Dreams movie site where we’ll walk around, take pictures, and spend some time with one of the original ghost players. After checking into the hotel, a welcome dinner is served at the Moracco Supper Club.

Included Meals: Dinner

Hotel: Holiday Inn Express (2 Nights)

Day 2 – Dubuque – Cruising

We will spend a special day aboard the Riverboat Twilight. This all-day cruise heads north from Dubuque and takes in one of the most beautiful stretches of the Mississippi River. If the river conditions are favorable, we will also have the chance to explore Historic Guttenberg, Iowa. Our cruise includes continental breakfast, two snacks, full lunch, historical narration by our captain who has been piloting riverboats for 30 years on the Upper Mississippi River, great scenery, eagles and other migratory birds, more relaxation than you have allowed yourself in years, plus entertainment by local favorite LA Suess on banjo! With plenty of indoor & outdoor seating, settle into a sturdy teak rocker or an inviting deck chair & enjoy! We will cruise back to Dubuque and return to the hotel in time to freshen up before we enjoy dinner at Timmerman’s Supper Club, a family owned restaurant overlooking the Mississippi River.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 – Dubuque to Fort Atkinson, WI

Enjoy an included full breakfast at the hotel before we make our way over to the beautiful Dubuque Arboretum and Botanical Gardens, a nonprofit organization, that was established in 1980. The 57-acre campus is maintained 100% by volunteers. Their labor of love has created a living museum that symbolizes devotion to the growing things of the earth. Their mission is to establish, preserve, and maintain a place that is a source of information, education, culture, and beauty for all. It’s time for a treat! Since 1938, Betty Jane Candies has been creating the finest in homemade chocolates and candies. We will learn about Betty Jane’s history as well as receive a scoop of ice cream and a delicious gremlin bar! Originally founded in 1852 along the Great River Road and just a stone’s throw from the Mississippi River, the Potosi Brewing Company brewed more than a century’s worth of delicious craft beer before finally bowing to shifting market pressures and emptying its bright tanks for good in 1972. Re-founded on its original site in 2008, the Potosi Brewing Company has brought craft brewing back to Main Street Potosi, Wisconsin. We’ll thoroughly enjoy our tour of Potosti Brewing. Lunch will be served here…and of course we will enjoy a root beer float for dessert! This afternoon we will check into the Holiday Inn Express in Ft. Atkinson and get ready for a wonderful buffet dinner and show at the Fireside Dinner Theatre. In “Mary Poppins,” the world’s favorite “practically perfect” nanny comes alive on the Fireside stage serving up more than a spoonful of delightful music, high-stepping dancing, and laughter that will transport and enchant us. There is only one word to describe this unforgettable production – “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!”
