Day 1 – Home to Kansas City

Our journey begins as we travel south with an overnight in Kansas City.

Day 2 – Kansas City to Dallas
Motor along the countryside of Texas and settle into Dallas for a relaxing 2 night stay.  Dinner is at your leisure to choose a restaurant in the area.

Day 3 – Dallas
Sightsee Dallas with stops at Kennedy Memorial, Dealy Plaza, the Sixth Floor book depository, and City Hall.  Visit Southfork Ranch, where the hit series “Dallas” was filmed.  Tour the Ewing’s lovely house and grounds before a barbecue lunch in the kitchen. The evening is free for you.

Day 4 – Dallas to San Antonio
Enjoy breakfast this morning before we motor through rugged hill country featuring rippling brooks and cowboys working their ranches.  Visit the Texas Ranger Museum before we arrive in Johnson City, where we tour the Lyndon B. Johnson Ranch and see the birth place of the late President.  Check into the beautiful Drury Inn & Suites on the Riverwalk.  Dinner this evening is at a local favorite steakhouse.

Day 5 – San Antonio
A local guide helps us spend the day exploring fascinating San Antonio.  We start with a visit to the IMAX Theater where we will experience the story of the Alamo. After the showing we will tour the Alamo, the place where Texas liberty was birthed and 200 heroic defenders lost their lives to General Santa Anna’s army.  Later learn about the many ethnic groups that settled in Texas at the Institute of Texan Cultures.  Lunch is served at a local favorite restaurant.   This afternoon visit beautiful Mission San Jose, known as “the Queen of Texas Missions.”  Later browse the colorful Mexican Marketplace at El Mercado.

Day 6 – San Antonio
Sleep late or maybe enjoy a morning stroll along the Riverwalk.  Today is free to enjoy the surrounding area of San Antonio.  Some may want to take a float ride on the Riverwalk just outside your hotel.  Others may want to join the motorcoach for a visit to Fredericksburg, a quaint little German Village. Stop at the Admiral Nimitz Museum Historical Park and Museum of the Pacific War.  Return to the hotel for a restful evening.  Your tour director can help with any suggestions.  This evening enjoy dinner on your own.

Day 7 – San Antonio to McAllen
Motor south into the Rio Grande Valley. We stop in Edinburg and enjoy an included lunch in an authentic Mexican Restaurant and visit the museum of South Texas History.  We arrive in McAllen and check into all new Drury Inn & Suites.

Day 8 – McAllen

Today you have a couple of options to choose from.  Some may want to visit friends that are staying for the winter months here in McAllen.  Others may want to join the coach for a free tour to South Padre Island.  A special sight will be the Iwo Jima Memorial on the campus of the Harlingen’s Marine Military Academy.  Return to the hotel for a restful evening.

Day 9 – McAllen to Corpus Christi
Wake this morning to the fresh air of the Rio Grande and depart McAllen for King Ranch, the largest ranch in the world.  We will visit the museum, enjoy a King Ranch Barbeque and have a historical tour.  Motor along to the sparkling shores of Corpus Christi, where your bayfront hotel awaits.  Unpack for a relaxing two night stay here with views of beautiful yacht harbors and sparkling ocean vistas.

Day 10 – Corpus Christi

Board the World War II USS Lexington Aircraft Carrier for a tour.  Later visit the Texas State Aquarium for an exciting undersea journey that begins at the shore and continues deep into the waters of the Gulf.  Lunch today is served at Landry’s Seafood Restaurant.  Later enjoy sweeping views of the harbor as we take a scenic circle tour of Mustang Island and Port Aransas.  Free time is given to browse the charming shops of this area.  This evening is at your leisure.

Day 11 – Corpus Christi to Galveston

Drive to Houston, one of the fastest growing cities in the country.  Tour the Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center, the focal point for our nation’s manned space-flight program.  Later travel to Galveston Island, two miles off the shore in the Gulf of Mexico for a two night stay.  Your resort is surrounded by 26 acres of lush tropical grounds.

Day 12 – Galveston
Tropical scenery abounds as we tour along the Victorian style homes,Bishop’s Palace, and Aston Villas.  Enjoy lunch at Fisherman’s Wharf before we continue our sightseeing of this charming area.  We return to the hotel and have a leisure evening.

Day 13 – Galveston to Oklahoma City Area
Today we leave sunny Galveston as the tour heads north today to the Oklahoma City area for a restful overnight.

Day 14 – Oklahoma City to Kansas City
Following breakfast we visit the Oklahoma Bombing Memorial and the National Cowboy Hall of Fame.  Later we leave for Kansas City and enjoy a farewell dinner celebration at a local favorite restaurant.

Day 15 – Kansas City to Home
After breakfast we journey homeward.  Enjoy lunch at the Iowa Machine Shed Restaurant.
