Day 1 – Home to New York City

Today we board our flight bound for the Big Apple! Upon arrival, we’ll check into our hotel just blocks from Times Square. What a better way to start our trip off than visiting the Top of the Rock Observation Deck at Rockefeller Center for a dramatic view of the energy, wonder, and beauty of New York City! The convenient location of our hotel is perfect for exploring the city on your own this evening.

Day 2 – New York City

Take a colorful ferry boat ride to the famous Statue of Liberty, symbolizing American freedom to all. Visit Ellis Island and discover, by exhibits, the 12 million people who came here looking for a better life. View the film “Island of Hope, Island of Tears” before visiting the Great Hall. Our local step-on guide will show us the sights and sounds of New York City: Visit lower Manhattan, see Wall Street, Chinatown, Greenwich village and more of this exciting city that never sleeps. This evening is at your leisure to choose from one of the great restaurants of New York City.

 

Day 3 – New York City 

We continue exploring with our step-on guide today. Between yesterday and today, we’ll have covered a lot of ground probably including a stroll through Central Park, seeing the World Trade Site, the Garment District, Empire State Building, the Lincoln Building, the Brooklyn Bridge, St. John the Divine Cathedral, spectacular 5th Avenue, Grand Central Station, and we’ll end our tour with a visit to the 9/11 Memorial Museum! This evening we’re off to one of Broadway’s top shows featuring orchestra seats!

 

Day 4 – NYC to Washington D.C.

Depart by Amtrak Train for Washington D.C. this morning for a three night stay in our nation’s capital! This afternoon we will spend time going through the interesting Smithsonian Buildings, known as the “Nation’s Attic” where we will see our country’s treasures, from its priceless jewels to Archie Bunker’s chair! A delightful dinner is served tonight at Ted’s Montana Grill. Then we’ll check into our hotel for a relaxful evening.

Day 5 – Washington D.C.

After an included breakfast at the hotel, our excellent step-on guide will be with us as we tour the Vietnam, Korean, The World War II Memorial and Iwo Jima Memorial. Learn about the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, World War II Memorial, Washington Memorial, new Martin Luther King Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, and the restored Union Station. Our guide interests us with facts and information as we view from our coach Embassy Row, Kennedy Center, The Old Post Office, The Pentagon, and the National Cathedral. What a special day!

Day 6 – Washington D.C.

After breakfast, explore Arlington National Cemetery, and witness the Changing of the Guard ceremony at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Nearby, the Eternal Flame marks the gravesites of President John F. Kennedy, Jackie, Robert, and Ted Kennedy. Lunch is served at the famous Old Ebbitt Grill, Washington’s oldest, most historic saloon. Established in 1856, it was a favorite of many past presidents and is still a popular meeting stop for political insiders, journalists, celebrities, and R & J travelers. A special experience this afternoon is touring Mount Vernon, George Washington’s beautiful plantation home. Afterwards, we’ll head to charming Old Town Alexandria, where restaurants and shops await, right along the Potomac River.

Day 7 – Washington D.C. to Home

After breakfast we bid goodbye and board our flight for home.
