Okoboji is a city in Dickinson County along the eastern shore of West Okoboji Lake in the Iowa Great Lakes Region.
Day 1 – Home to Okoboji, IA
We begin our tour on a beautiful first day of Fall. We are stopping midway for lunch on your own. Arriving in Okoboji, we check into our beautiful 5 star resort for our extended stay in the area. Arrowwood Resort is in a great location, has an indoor waterpark and Minerva’s Restaurant located in the resort. Beautiful grounds surround the resort, so just relax! We then depart to Swan Lake Winery for a tour, tasting, and a bison dinner. A real treat is in store for you before heading back to our resort.

Day 2 – Okoboji
Following a hearty breakfast at the resort, we load the coach for a tour around West Lake with tour guide Rebecca. After the tour, we head on over to the Classic Car Museum, where we’ll step back in time, reliving some nostalgic memories. Then its on over to Arnold’s Park where we will board the Queen II Excursion Boat for a delightful luncheon cruise. Following our cruise, we’ll enjoy three great museums: Arnolds Park, The Maritime, and Rock n’ Roll. Now a little down time is in store for some shopping, exploring on your own or just taking it easy! Dinner this evening is at Yesterday’s, where the name tells the story. They are known for their great food!

Day 3 – Okoboji
Enjoy a relaxing hot breakfast at our resort before departing for the day. First stop is Winchester Collections that has been created and run by a local family. They have recreated the 1926 Winchester Store that once stood on Hill Avenue in Spirit Lake. The mural in the entry makes you feel like you really are entering the old store. They have set it up exactly as it would have been back then. The cash register even has 1926 money in it. This collection is amazing and makes for a great tour! Our journey next takes us to Pearson Lakes Art Center, featuring six galleries of artwork including the largest collection of Russian Impressionist paintings outside of Russia. Our included noon lunch will be at a fun place called Tweeters for a hearty meal of soup, salad and sandwiches taken from the menu. Afterwards, we will depart for Little Sioux Orchard where they will take us by hayride to the orchard to learn the orchard’s history. Maybe we’ll even get a chance to pick a few apples! We then return to the resort for some time to relax. Our evening meal will be enjoyed at Parks Boat Club at Snappers. We are being treated to a dinner of chicken marsala with a Caribbean flair overlooking Turtle Bay and East Lake Okoboji. Then back to our lovely resort to relax for the night.

Day 4 – Okoboji to Home
Soak in the beautiful ambience of your surroundings as you enjoy one last breakfast at our resort. A later departure this morning allows for another stroll on this early autumn day. This has been a fun, fascinating, and refreshing getaway and we are probably heading home before we are really ready to – Be Amazed! With Okoboji is true! We’ll make a lunch stop at Trails Travel Center and a treat break at Russell Stover on our way home.
