“The Gathering of Waters”

“Old Man River”

“The Mighty Mississippi”

These are just a few of the nicknames the Mississippi River is called.

This four day tour is filled with history, scrumptious food, special farm visits, and the highlight: a full day spent cruising the Mississippi!

Day 1 – Home to Moline, IL

Welcome aboard! Who’s ready to make Mississippi Memories?! We will enjoy the passing landscape as we make our way to the Quad Cities area today. Late this afternoon we are guests at the Cinnamon Ridge Farm for a wonderful tour of their family owned farm. Our tour begins in their family home where we’ll learn firsthand from the farmers about their operations. Then we’ll move to the barn to experience “where technology meets tradition” as we watch robots milk the cows and see where the family makes their own cheese. A memorable farm to table meal is served at the farm, complete with fresh cheese curds! Then we step out on the lawn for live entertainment and a tasty dessert. What a special evening at the Farm! Departing, we check into our hotel in Moline.

Included Meals: Dinner

Hotel: Hyatt Place

Day 2 – Moline to Le Claire cruise to Dubuque

Rise & shine! We have a cruise to catch as we become Tom Sawyer or Huck Finn for the day! We will board the Celebration Belle in time to enjoy a full breakfast buffet. This paddlewheel boat specifically designed for cruising the waterways of the great Mississippi River. Our river journey starts in Le Claire, IA and cruises north to Dubuque, IA. Our day will be filled with interesting narration from our captain, taking in the lovely river scenery, listening to the fabulous live entertainment, and the experience of passing through two locks! A full lunch buffet as well as a full prime rib dinner buffet will also be served. Don’t forget to step out onto the two observation decks! What a perfect day on the Mississippi! After dinner we’ll dock in Dubuque and check into our hotel for the next two nights.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner (Onboard)

Hotel: Holiday Inn (2 Nights)

Day 3 – Dubuque

Our day starts with breakfast at the hotel before we’re off on a city tour of historic Dubuque, known for its revitalized main street and architectural historic districts with well-preserved buildings and homes. City tour highlights include Dubuque County Courthouse, St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, historic Millwork District, Mathias Ham House, Eagle Point Park, and much more. Afterwards we visit the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, a 14-acre campus filled with movies about our rivers and oceans, hands on exhibits, and more. This is the only museum of its kind on the Upper Mississippi River that is associated with the Smithsonian Institute. Next we head to the Convivium Urban Farmstead where we’ll enjoy a tour of their gardens and farmstead as well as a scrumptious lunch made from local ingredients and produce right from their gardens. Then we visit Verna Street Coffee to learn the history, sample the coffee, and tour the facility of this family owned coffee company. It’s time for a treat! Since 1938, Betty Jane Candies has been creating the finest in homemade chocolates and candies. We will learn about Betty Jane’s history as well as receive a scoop of ice cream and a delicious gremlin bar! Then we return to the hotel to freshen up before dinner is served at Timmerman’s Supper Club, a family owned restaurant overlooking the Mississippi River.
