1st DAY – Home to Dubugue

Depart this morning and head south to Dubuque. Arrive at your hotel and settle in before your exciting evening. Tonight you will experience a “progressive” supper including a walking tour through the historic area of town, with stops to sample the area’s unique regional foods.

2nd DAY – Dubuque

After breakfast depart for Galena, once a bustling river port on the Mississippi River and renowned for the finest 19-century architecture in the Midwest. Enjoy a delightful trolley tour as we see the sights of charming Galena. A special lunch is planned at the historic Desota House Hotel. Step back in time at this wonderful old hotel, and see why it has greeted such notable guests as Abraham Lincoln, Ulysses S. Grant, Mark Twain, Teddy Roosevelt, Susan B. Anthony, as well as others. Our luncheon will include storytelling by the costumed General’s Lady of Ulysses S. Grant! The many interesting stories will interest you as you dine. A free afternoon allows for time to explore the many shops and wonderful historic buildings. Return to your hotel, freshen up for an exciting evening. Enjoy a delightful dinner before we attend the Mississippi Revue Show! A perfect way to prepare for tomorrows events!

3rd DAY – Dubuque to Quad Cities

Enjoy a full breakfast at your leisure this morning. Later board the largest luxury excursion vessel on the Upper Mississippi River. You’ll enjoy breakfast, morning snack and a delicious luncheon buffet and prime rib dinner as we paddle along the Mighty Mississippi! Enjoy all the on board activities or maybe just sit back and enjoy the view. Live entertainment and history will be provided along the way. Your boat docks in the Quad Cities where your hotel awaits your arrival for the evening.

4th DAY – Quad Cities to Home

This morning after breakfast we begin our journey home. Visit the Bily Clock Museum in Spillville. The Bily Brothers devoted their lives to carving the amazing intricate clocks. Henry Ford once offered $1 million for one of them, however, the brothers refused to sell. Continue to Decorah, originally settled by Norwegians during the 19th century. Enjoy a guided tour of the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, which encompasses 16 historic buildings. An included lunch is served by friendly residents of the area.
