Day 1 – Home to Schererville, IN

We begin our tour Wednesday traveling all day with stops for coffee breaks and lunch. We arrive in Schererville, IN at the Hampton Inn for our first night’s stay. You will thoroughly enjoy our wonderful welcome dinner at historic Teibels Restaurant.

Day 2 – Schererville to Anderson, IN

First thing this morning is a visit to The Shrine of Christ’s Passion in St. John, Indiana, an interactive half-mile winding pathway that allows you to journey through the Passion of Christ as never before. Following a lunch stop at Fair Oaks Dairy, our journey continues “down the Gospel Road” winding our way to Anderson, Indiana. Anderson is the home of Anderson University and proudly claimed by Ralph Engel as his alma mater. Ralph is just one of the many famous personalities that hail from its halls. Other distinguished alumni include Sandi Patty, Steven Curtis Chapman, Bill & Gloria Gaither, Doug Oldham, Steve Green and former Dodger’s pitcher Carl Erskine. A special feature is the Warner Sallman Collection of original images of Christ including: “Head of Christ;” “Praying in Gethsemane;” “The Lord is my Shepherd;” and “Christ at Hearts Door” among many others. Headlining our included dinner this evening is the musical entertainment of Homecoming favorite, gospel artist and songwriter Woody Wright and his lovely wife Vonnie. Woody’s songs have been recorded by almost every artist in gospel music. This will be an amazing treat you’ll long remember.

Day 3 – Anderson

We arise early enough to enjoy a great hot breakfast before we are on our way to the Gaither Family Resources in Alexandria, Indiana, home to well-known gospel music greats Bill & Gloria Gaither. We are fortunate to be here for the Gaither Fall Fest Hometown Spectacular! Here we are privileged to get an inside tour of their historic studios (Site of the very first Homecoming video), as well as the headquarters of Gaither Music. A guided tour of Alexandria, Bill & Gloria’s hometown, complete with stories of Bill’s boyhood days, is truly fascinating. We return to the Gaither Center to enjoy lunch on the grounds, music venues all day featuring many well known gospel music artists, Vestal Goodman’s famous Coconut Cake at the Gaither coffee shop “The Common Place” and many special feature booths. You will be able to visit the fantastic gift shop and Gaither Family Resources, where every Homecoming Video ever recorded and the largest collection of gospel music CDs you’ve ever seen, are available for purchase. Don’t forget your credit card! Tonight we are in for an extraordinary treat as we attend a concert by Ernie Haase and Signature Sound at the convention center in Muncie! Absolutely awesome!

Day 4 – Anderson to Renfro Valley, KY

After enjoying our included hot breakfast, we depart for Renfro Valley, Kentucky. On our way we make a stop at The Ark Encounter, a new project of The Creation Museum. “Encounter” is the fitting name for this incredible experience. The Ark Encounter, a recreation of Noah’s Ark, is just opening this summer. Almost one and a half football fields long and taller than a 4 story house, be prepared to

be blown away by this reconstruction of the Ark to it’s exact size and detail according to the Bible. Leaving The Ark we travel across the pastoral rolling hills of Kentucky famously known as “horse country,” to Mt. Vernon and the Renfro Valley, the Music Capital of Kentucky. Dinner this evening is southern style at The Lodge in the Village, entertainment is the “Gospel Jubilee” at The Old Barn Theater, and our homey accommodation is the National Heritage Inn just a stroll down the road. What a day!

Day 5 – Renfro Valley to Pigeon Forge, TN

Breakfast is served at our homey hotel before we depart. We arrive at the Museum of Appalachia in Clinton, Tennessee. This is a wonderfully relaxing expanse of property featuring many old buildings and displays of the long ago days of country music. We are privileged to be part of the Tennessee Homecoming where Southern Gospel music is being featured on the grounds on this Sunday. Enjoy lunch on your own at their quaint café or other special food booths, with ample time to explore this one of a kind museum. It’s a great spot! Then it’s on to Pigeon Forge, known as “the new Branson.” Dinner this evening is served family style at one of our favorite dining spots, The Applewood Farmhouse. You’ll thoroughly enjoy our beautiful hotel, The Music Road Resort Inn.

Day 6 – Pigeon Forge

Breakfast is again served at our hotel to prepare us for a grand day. We are welcomed as guests at the world reknown Dollywood theme park. What is so special will be the Southern Gospel Harvest Celebration featuring concerts all day. Also located in the Park is the Southern Gospel Music Museum & Hall of Fame. Lunch will be on your own at the Park. We will return to our hotel early enough in the afternoon to rest up before our evening’s adventure, The Biblical Times Dinner Theatre, one of the top shows of its kind in the country.

Day 7 – Pigeon Forge to Wilkesboro, NC

After breakfast we will journey across eastern Tennessee, through the Great Smoky Mountains to Boone, North Carolina and the World Headquarters of Samaritan’s Purse. We enjoy lunch right here before a very informative inside look of Franklin Graham’s compassionate organization striving to provide for the physical and spiritual needs of millions all over the world. Ever wondered where all those Christmas shoe boxes go? This will be an “eye opening” experience we will never forget!

Day 8 – Wilkesboro to Charlotte, NC

Following our nice hot breakfast, we journey just a few short miles away to another critical branch of The Samaritan’s Purse. This is the distribution center where we witness the fascinating logistics of shipping these needed goods world wide! Also, their Disaster Response Teams are headquartered here. Marvel at the amazing planning and preparation involved in providing such a critical humanitarian service. Then we are off winding our way through the NC mountains to the famous Billy Graham Library in Charlotte…What is in store for us today can only be imagined! Before our tour, lunch is provided right at the Library at the Graham Bros. Dairy Bar. Now for what will likely be the highlight of the trip, The Billy Graham Library and Museum. The Billy Graham Library tops the all time high for spiritual blessings! Retrace Billy Graham’s dynamic journey through stunning multi-media presentations, interactive kiosks, photos and memorabilia all done with state-of-the-art technology. When you are finished you will absolutely realize it’s not about the man “Billy Graham” but about his “God fearing dedication to his Lord & Savior.” Included on the side is Billy’s boyhood home and Ruth’s (his dear wife) gravesite. People, by the tens of thousands, have been making pilgrimages from all over the world to witness this presentation of the ministry of Billy Graham, his wife Ruth and his team and associates. For many, this is a life altering experience. You will truly love the rich heritage and deep spiritual impact of this “God Spot.” Our home this evening is the convenient and comfortable Embassy Suites nearby.

Day 9 – Charlotte to Grove City, Ohio

Our wonderful full breakfast buffet at Embassy Suites is the best and we love it. Today is a delightful travel day through the western mountain regions of North Carolina, Virginia & West Virginia and the rolling hills of Southern Ohio to Circleville. This evening we are treated to an amazing musical concert by the Collingsworth Family on the campus of Ohio Christian University. The Collingsworth are generally considered gospel music’s favorite family. Their harmony is incredible and beautiful and all are multi-talented vocalists and instrumentalists. Kim Collingsworth is one of the top concert pianists in the country. You will be blessed!

Day 10 – Grove City to Shipshewana, IN

After our included breakfast we travel to Shipshewana, Indiana and the Blue Gate Theatre. Showing there is the hugely popular Amish comedy musical “Josiah for President.” This is delightful and refreshing! Be prepared to enjoy! Included dinner this evening is a typical Amish homestyle feast at the Blue Gate Restaurant.

Day 11 – Shipshewana to Ft. Atkinson, WI

After a wonderful full hot breakfast buffet at the Blue Gate, we leave amiable Amish Country for Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin. What a memorable last evening experience we have planned for you. The incomparable Fireside Dinner Theatre! A superb musical, memorable dining, spectacular shops and fabulous service is their goal. Presented on this evening is “Million Dollar Quartet.” It is the story of one extraordinary event when a twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins and Elvis Presley together at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest jam sessions ever.

Day 12 – Fort Atkinson to Home

This is Sunday, so our coach will serve as our “traveling chapel” as we make our way home. Thank you for traveling The Gospel Road with us!
