Day 1 – Home to Chicago 

Our adventure starts out early as we travel to the Windy City via Amtrak, taking in the changing scenery as we rail along. Upon arrival, we will check into the Hampton Inn in downtown Chicago for a three night stay. You may wish to take a swim at the hotel or enjoy the sights and sounds of the city by going for a walk on the Magnificent Mile and eating at a local restaurant. Perhaps you’ll want to find a place serving Chicago’s famous deep-dish pizza! We will gather together to enjoy watching fireworks tonight at Navy Pier. 

Hotel: Hampton Inn on Illinois  (3 Nights) 

Day 2 – Chicago 

Following breakfast we’ll start our day with a city tour of Chicago, seeing the highlights of this wonderful city. Next we will board the Spirit of Chicago for a lunch cruise on Lake Michigan. As we enjoy our great lunch, we’ll take in the beautiful Chicago skyline sights from the water and we’ll be entertained by an onboard DJ. After lunch it’s on to the Skydeck, where we will travel 103 stories up at the Willis Tower to experience grand views of the Chicago area. If you are brave enough you can step out on “the Ledge,” a glass box extending out 4.3 feet from the Skydeck and 1,353 feet off the ground! Dinner will be on your own to choose from the many options available near our hotel.

Day 3 – Chicago 

After breakfast we will continue our touring of Chicago with our step-on guide. We will stop at the Millennium Park, a 24.5 acre rooftop garden built over an underground parking garage. We will visit the Art Institute of Chicago, founded in 1879, it is America’s oldest and largest art museum. Then a special lunch will be served at Macy’s on the historic 7th floor in the Walnut Room where Chicagoans have eaten for generations. This is truly a lunch to remember! Next our tour guide tells stories about Chicago’s history and architecture during an Architecture Walking Tour. Highlights will include a church in a skyscraper, a contemporary development, and a historic department store with sparkling Tiffany mosaics. We will return to the hotel to get freshened up for our evening event.

Day 4 – Chicago to Home 

As we make our way back home via luxury motorcoach, we will be thinking about all that we saw and enjoyed in the “Windy City.” For our last lunch we will enjoy the home cooking at Cracker Barrel with our new traveling friends.
