our way north to Gooseberry Falls a gateway
to the North Shore. It is known for its spectacular
waterfalls, river gorge, and rocky Lake
Superior shoreline. Listen to the thunderous
roar of the Upper, Middle and Lower Falls of
the Gooseberry River as it plummets through
a rocky gorge. Watch for waves, ships, or the
moon rise on Lake Superior from an ancient
lava flow known as the Picnic Flow. Stop at

sheer cliffs and some of the oldest fossils in

On the southern tip of this rugged peninsula
near Thunder Bay lies the legendary Sleeping
Giant. Venture deep into its boreal forests
to experience the back country, or follow
its rugged trails to the top of the giant for
unbeatable views of Lake Superior. Look for
deer, moose and other large mammals in the
park’s vast forests and lowlands. The beauty
of this park will leave you spellbound. Next
get your camera’s ready as we make our
way to Ouimet Canyon. This sheer-walled
canyon shelters rare Arctic-alpine plants
along its boulder laden floor, where snow
often persists until late spring. From two

trails, view this spectacular gorge and feel
the air rising from the depths. Walk across
Canada’s longest Suspension Bridge and
