Day 1 – Home to Warrens, WI
Our journey to the Cranberry Capital begins with a stop for a guided Pilgrimage at Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in LaCrosse, WI. Nestled on 70 acres of woodland and completed in 2008, this Marian Shrine was the dream of Bishop Raymond L. Burke. Continuing on, we’ll check into the Three Bears Resort in Warrens. Get to know one another during our Welcome Dinner at the Resort.

Day 2 – Warrens
A breakfast buffet at the resort prepares us for a day of experiencing Wisconsin’s bounty! Be sure to try some cranberry French toast bake, yum! Did you know that Wisconsin’s #1 fruit crop is the cranberry, producing over 60% of the world’s supply of cranberries? We’ll learn all about cranberries at Wetherby Cranberry Company during a private tour of this family-owned and operated cranberry marsh with a third-generation grower as our guide. Wetherby was founded in 1903 and began packing fresh cranberries in 1905. Since we are visiting a working farm, whatever work is being done the day of our visit, we’ll see. Plus we will have the opportunity to walk down into a cranberry bed (without water in it) and see firsthand how cranberries are grown. Our guide will also take us to their Fresh Fruit Processing Plant for an interesting tour. This is definitely an educational experience that we will long remember! Up next is the Cranberry Discovery Center, housed in a 1900 building that was used for many years as a cranberry warehouse. We’ll have time to explore their museum that showcases Wisconsin’s cranberry growing heritage and browse their gift shop. We will also enjoy a great lunch at their Cranberry Country Café, complete with cranberry ice cream for dessert. Then we head to the Wisconsin Dairy State Cheese Co. where master cheesemakers produce excellent and unique cheese products. We’ll learn about their cheese artistry, watch cheese making, and shop their delightful products. Later this afternoon we’ll visit Dempze Cranberry Company for their “Rooted In Red” experience. This 5th generation family business keeps growing as they continue to expand hybrid research while developing environmentally sustainable growing practices. We will be treated to a wagon tour of their cranberry farm to learn about local cranberry history, their family’s century old farm, their ethical and sustainable growing practices, and how cranberries are pollinated, grown, and harvested. October is harvest time – we’ll soon find out what stage of harvest they’ll be in! A wonderful dinner will be served here at the farm.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 3 – Warrens to Sturgeon Bay, WI
Enjoy another breakfast at Three Bears Resort before we depart. We’ll first view more of Wisconsin’s lovely “cranberry country” as our coach takes us on a driving tour of the area’s cranberry marshes. Then as we make our way towards picturesque Door County, we will have lunch on our own in Wautoma. As we are getting closer to Door County, we will enjoy all the beautiful fall colors. Checking into the beautiful Stone Harbor Resort situated right on the shores of Sturgeon Bay, we’ll settle in for a two-night stay. A delicious buffet dinner awaits right at the resort.
Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner
Hotel: Stone Harbor Resort (2 Nights)
Day 4 – Door County
Enjoy a wonderful breakfast at the resort before we start our busy day of exploring with the help of a local guide. First stop is at scenic Cave Point County Park, located inside Whitefish Dunes State Park, it’s the most iconic spot in Door County! Next we are off to the Open Door Bird Sanctuary, the only facility of its kind in the area that offers a unique combination of environmental and wildlife education. We’ll experience getting up close to raptors! Afterwards we’ll stop at Koepsel Farm Market, the oldest farm market in Door County and the recipes used to make their jams, jellies and canned goods date back even earlier than the year they opened for business in 1958. Happy Door County shopping! A Scandinavia lunch is then served at Al Johnson’s, established in 1949. Be sure to look for the live goats on the roof their authentic Swedish log building. This afternoon, we will head to Peninsula State Park where we will get to tour Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. Perched on a bluff 76 feet above Green Bay’s glistening waters, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse’s lamp brought solace to many a sailor suffering through a storm’s gale or the dark of night. Today the tradition of the lighthouse continues. Restored to its past glory, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse is a tribute to the keepers who kept the lamp burning on many a dark and stormy night. Next, we will get to spend some time in the quaint village of Fish Creek followed by one of the best fish boils in Door County! We have chosen a traditional setting dating back to the 1900’s. Tonight we are guests at the Peninsula Players Theatre, America’s oldest resident summer theater. Its history is as captivating as the plays staged at the theater during the past 89 years, and it began simply with “two planks and a passion.” Our show is Steel Magnolias, a hilarious celebration of friendship, heartache and hairdos! This beloved and moving comedy chronicles the lives and friendships of six marvelously different women who support each other through triumphs and tragedies. They congregate every Saturday at Truvy’s beauty shop to ponder the mysteries of life and death, husbands and children – and hair and nails! Through their witty banter and plenty of ribbing, the women form bonds as strong as steel and friendships that feel like family.
