Day 1 – Home to Lake Geneva, WI
After coffee breaks and lunch on our own along the way, we will arrive in quaint Lake Geneva and check into Harbor Shores on Lake Geneva. Be sure to step out on your private balcony and take in the lake view! Next, we board the Grand Belle for a narrated, scenic cruise on beautiful Lake Geneva! Dinner is just a short walk from the dock.

Day 2 – Lake Geneva to Fair Oaks, IN
Breakfast is served before we depart lovely Lake Geneva. We will make our first stop at the Frank Lloyd Wright Home for a Studio Guided Interior Tour. Enjoy a guided tour of Wright’s Home and explore the studio where the first uniquely American architecture – the Prairie style – was created. Lunch is on your own as we make our way to Fair Oaks, IN. We’ll check into the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Fair Oaks Farms. Designed as a beautiful contemporary barn, our Fair Oaks Farm hotel is filled with art and design accents celebrating the American countryside. We will enjoy a great plated dinner at the hotel’s Farmhouse Restaurant.

Day 3 – Fair Oaks
Our day starts off with a buffet breakfast to prepare us for a full day of fun farm experiences. First up is the Pig Adventure for an inside, educational look at the life of a pig here at Fair Oaks Farms. Learn about how their farmers “shower in” in order to protect the pigs from disease. Check out the interactive sonogram to see how many piglets the expecting mother is having. See a newborn piglet up close, some of which are only five minutes old! Learn about new farm technology and see the different stages of a pig’s life. We will walk through an upper-level tutorial exhibit that overlooks an actual large-scale working pig farm. Our tour guides answer questions about responsible farming, Pig 101, pigs influence in pop culture, cooking pork and more. Then time will be given to enjoy lunch on your own and perhaps some shopping. Next we’ll go on a Dairy Adventure to see the future of dairy farming with a tour of their Parlor and Robotic Dairy. We’ll learn how they transform their farms’ waste into energy by way of anaerobic digesters while achieving the goal of having a zero-carbon footprint. The cow bus we’ll be riding is “powered by poo.” Their robotic dairy farm offers state-of-the-art technology allowing individualized milking processes through voluntary milking systems. Their cows are able to milk when they want and Fair Oaks is able to track how much they yield, how often they milk, and much more! The Birthing Barn is also included in our all-day pass, giving us a chance to witness from a live viewing arena one of the 6-8 calves that are born daily. Afterwards, you’ll have an hour to continue to explore the pig and dairy buildings, or perhaps you wish to stop at the Cowfe & Ice Cream Shop for a treat or check out the Crop Adventure! Then we gather back together for a fun workshop as we learn how to make our own soy candles. Tonight a hearty smokehouse buffet dinner will leave us satisfied!

Day 4 – Fair Oaks to Ft. Atkinson, WI
Enjoy another buffet breakfast before depart to make our way north. Our first stop will be the Chicago Architecture Center River Cruise aboard Chicago’s First Lady. Expertly trained docents will give us the best overview of Chicago’s architecture and its history, sharing fascinating stories behind more than 50 buildings as we cruise along the Chicago River. We’ll hear how Chicago grew from a small settlement into one of the world’s largest cities in less than 100 years. Lunch will be on your own before we make our way to Ft. Atkinson and check into the HI Express. Tonight we’re guests at the Fireside Theatre for a delightful buffet dinner and “MATILDA the Musical.” This Tony Award-winning musical by Roald Dahl’s is a captivating masterpiece packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs. MATILDA tells the story of an extraordinary girl who, armed with a sharp mind, a vivid imagination, and psychokinetic powers dares to take a stand to change her story with miraculous results. Unloved by her cruel parents and evil headmistress, she impresses her teacher with courage and cleverness in a joyous celebration of one girl’s triumph over what’s “not right!”
