Day 1 – Home to Dubuque, Iowa

Board the R&J luxury coach this morning for the start of a fabulous River Town Tour! We head south with a coffee break in Rochester before our rest tour stop in Harmony where we will enjoy lunch at The Harmony House Restaurant. A step-on guide will then board the coach and give us a tour of the Amish country, including shopping at the Amish stores along the way! After an afternoon of stepping-back-in-time, we make our way to Dubuque, Iowa and the grand Hotel Julien for the next four nights. Enjoy the evening and dinner on your own.

Day 2 – Dubuque

Breakfast will be ready and waiting in a private room just for us! Take some time to stroll around the hotel and see the beautiful architecture before we leave for our tour of The Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium where you can take an informative, entertaining journey on the Mighty Mississippi: enjoy dynamic aquariums, historical exhibits, and a stroll through the wetlands and boatyard. Enjoy lunch on your own before we depart for St. Luke’s Church, with its Romanesque style of architecture and origins in the Middle Ages. Here we will take a tour inside of the beautiful stained glass windows such as the Baptism of Christ and the Angel of Victory. Next we take a ride on The Fenelon Place elevator which is described as the world’s shortest, steepest scenic railway, 296 feet in length, elevating passengers 189 feet from Fourth Street to Fenelon Place. Here you will see a magni cent view of the historic Dubuque business district, the Mississippi River and three states. Tonight we enjoy a progressive dinner where we will see numerous historic sites such as Wartburg Seminary and the Mandolin Inn with food along the way! What a way to eat your way through history!!

Day 3 – Galena, IL

Rise and shine with another wonderful breakfast at the hotel before departing for a day in Galena, IL. We’ll have a Trolley Tour of the city and then you’ll have plenty of time for shopping and lunch on your own in this quaint little town. Dinner tonight is at Vinny Vanucchi’s, a local restaurant with amazing Italian fare, before we head back to Dubuque for a good night’s rest.

Day 4 – Potosi, WI & Dubuque

After you have lled your tummies with coffee and food, we depart for Potosi, WI and the Potosi Brewing Company where we will tour the National Brewery Museum as well as the Transportation Museum. You will see how product was delivered by horse drawn wagons in the early days and by steamboat on the Mississippi, rail, and then cars and delivery trucks in the later days. The world class brewery museum showcases a breweriana collection of bottles, cans, advertising materials and much more. Enjoy lunch on your own at the Brew Pub while taking in all the antiquities! This evening we will depart on the American Lady for a dinner cruise on the mighty Mississippi River.

Day 5 – Dubuque to Home

All aboard the coach after a scrumptious breakfast for our drive home along the Great Mississippi River Road. We will make nu- merous stops along the way: Prairie du Chien, WI where we will hit up the Valley Fish and Cheese Co. for a unique experience and shop for some smoked sh if you’d like! Lunch is on us at a local La Crosse restaurant before we head over to our next stop, which is The Mary of the Angels and Perpetual Adoration Chapels at St. Rose Convent. Mary of the Angels Chapel in La Crosse was named after a tiny church built in early times in the marshlands below the town of Assisi, Italy. Abandoned and in disrepair, the church, St. Mary of the Portiuncula, was given to Francis of Assisi by the Benedictines to use as a place of prayer and as headquarters for himself and his followers. The next stop, before you reach your nal destination of home, is the Red Wing Shoe Museum in Red Wing, MN where you can shop for over 30,000 pair of shoes!
