Day 1 – Home to Grapevine, TX

Our Grapevine Getaway begins with a flight into Dallas-Ft. Worth airport. Then we’ll motor to charming Grapevine, known for its restored 19th- and 20th-century buildings on downtown’s Main Street, and check into the Hilton Garden Inn for a wonderful 4-night stay! This evening we’ll head to the Texas Star Dinner Theatre for a delicious dinner and dessert along with an entertaining, comical “whodunit” Texan show!

Included Meals: Dinner

Hotel: Hilton Garden Inn (4 Nights)

Day 2 – Grapevine

Our day starts off with a hot breakfast before we meet our local guide who will bring the Historic Main Street District alive during a Grapevine City Tour. It will be easy to see why Grapevine is called “Vintage Texas.” Next, we head 150 feet up in the air at Grapevine Main Station’s Observation Tower for magnificent 360-degree views of Historic Downtown Grapevine, the entire Dallas Fort Worth metroplex, and the sprawling 8,000 acre Grapevine Lake. We’ll even be able to watch as planes land at DFW International Airport. Afterwards, enjoy an included lunch at Harvest Hall, a European-style food hall designed after the grand train stations of the 19th century. Do you hear the conductor’s whistle? It’s time to board the Grapevine Vintage Railroad at the Historic Cotton Belt Depot! (If time allows while we wait to board, we recommend popping into Vetro Glassblowing Studio & Gallery.) All aboard as we settle into our authentic, luxury 1920’s-era train coaches, traveling along the historic Cotton Belt Route through six different cities in Tarrant County before ending in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards. As we rail along, we’ll encounter Deputy Maverick, hotel owner Ms. Rose, and train robber Mustang Jones! Can we help keep the money bag safe?! Disembarking the train, we will have the opportunity to explore the Stockyards. From the original brick walkways to the wooden corrals, every inch of the Stockyards tells the true history of Texas’s famous livestock industry. At your leisure, be sure to also take advantage of your included ticket to the remarkable John Wayne: An American Experience exhibit, providing an intimate tour of the life of John Wayne! Learn all about Duke’s legacy from early childhood and career, to never-before-seen family photos and correspondences, providing a holistic view of the icon whose values translate both on the silver screen and off! The Texas Longhorn and the American cowboy are two of the most enduring symbols of the Old West. They’re a big reason why Fort Worth earned the nickname “Cowtown.” So be sure to make your way to the sidewalk in front of the Livestock Exchange Building before 4 o’clock as the romance and mystique of cowboys and cattle drives bygone era comes to life as Texas Longhorns driven by genuine Texas cowhands head down East Exchange Ave! You’ll hear the jingle of spurs, the cattle bawling, and the rhythm of the hoofbeats. Afterwards, enjoy dinner on your own at the Stockyards, with plenty of options to choose from. Our already memorable day concludes with the Fort Worth Stockyard Championship Rodeo in the indoor Cowtown Coliseum! Our fantastic Gold Buckle seats will be perfect for viewing the excitement of roping, barrel racing, bull riding, bronc riding, and more!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Day 3 – Grapevine to Dallas to Grapevine

After breakfast we’ll stop at The Gaylord Texan Resort to view highlights from across Texas all under their glass atrium. Then we depart for Dallas, touring the city with a local guide. After lunch on our own, we’ll visit the Sixth Floor Museum, located within the former Texas School Book Depository building, it chronicles the assassination and legacy of President John F. Kennedy. Have you ever heard of the famous Southfork Ranch? For thirteen years, it was home to one of the longest-running TV series in history, Dallas! Our tour begins at the Ranch Round-Up Visitors Center, where a tram will take us to the famous Ewing Mansion. Along the way, knowledgeable tour guides will brief us on the Ranch’s history, and we will have the chance to see Texas Longhorns and American Quarter Horses. At the Ewing Mansion, we’ll be guided through the “most famous White House west of D.C.” Our guide will share interesting tidbits about the years of filming, both past and present, and provide insight into the Ewing television characters. Departing the Mansion, stroll freely through the ranch grounds. Be sure to stop and visit Lincoln’s and Longhorns, where Jock Ewing’s original 1978 Lincoln Continental lives. Our Southfork Ranch experience continues as we’re treated to a delicious Chuckwagon Dinner, complete with tasty BBQ, cornbread, and cobbler! Top it all off with entertainment by a Cowboy Singer – what a time!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 4 – Grapevine

Another hot breakfast starts our day off right! Then we take in the natural beauty and tranquil surroundings of nature at the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. Next, we’ll have the unique experience of an old-fashioned social or interactive craft program at the historic Nash Farm, the oldest operating farmstead in Tarrant County! A special lunch is planned at Grapevine’s original filling station, Willhoite’s Restaurant, complete with the original gas pump out front and a Model T Ford hanging over the Texas-sized buffet. This afternoon, we’ll find ourselves on an Urban Wine Tour for a wine tasting at one of Grapevine’s Winery Tasting Rooms. Afterwards, we head to the gem of Main Street, the Palace Arts Center, home to both the Palace Theatre & the Lancaster Theatre. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the warmth of downtown’s turn-of-the-century atmosphere is evident in this beautifully restored art deco-style building. Here we’ll enjoy a Texas BBQ buffet dinner and a local entertainer who will play a variety of music!
