Day 1 – Home to Celoron, NY

Our adventure begins with a flight to New York. We’ll then make our way to the small village of Celoron, NY. Did you know that Celoron is the childhood home of “The First Lady of Comedy,” Lucille Ball?! Here we will find the luxurious Chautauqua Harbor Hotel, a nine-acre resort on the shores of beautiful Chautauqua Lake. We’ll gladly settle into our waterfront rooms for two wonderful nights! A delicious Welcome Dinner is served at our hotel. If you’re not quite ready to retire for the night, head out to the hotel’s expansive lakeside patio and enjoy relaxing by a fire pit or walk to the Lucille Ball Memorial Park located next door to our hotel. You may wish to snap an evening picture of the Celoron Lighthouse along the way to or from the park.

Included Meals: Welcome Dinner

Hotel: Chautauqua Harbor Hotel (2 Nights)

Day 2 – Celoron & Jamestown, NY

Breakfast is served at the hotel, fueling us for a busy day of “Cruisin and Comedy.” First, we’ll see Jamestown through Lucy’s eyes on our “LucyTown” Tour. This driving tour takes us to the theater where she caught the acting bug, the house where she was raised, the many I Love Lucy murals, her schools, her final resting place, and more. Next, up is the Ultimate I Love Lucy Experience as we visit the Lucy Desi Museum, celebrating the Legacy of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz. We’ll experience exact re-creations of the studio sets of the most beloved TV comedy of all time — I Love Lucy — including the Ricardos’ New York City apartment and their Hollywood hotel suite. We’ll get a behind-the-scenes look into the creation and production of the show as well as an intimate look into the personal lives and careers of Lucy and Desi. We’ll be immersed in the legacy of the “First Couple of Comedy” viewing original scripts, costumes worn by Lucy, and her Emmy Awards. After an included lunch, it’s fitting that we’d find the National Comedy Center in Jamestown. This new and highly interactive museum was named “One of the reasons to love America’’ by People Magazine. Learn about your favorite comedians from the past and discover new ones as we explore every genre of comedy, from stand-up, sketch and improv to television, radio, movies and more. Later we will board the historic & restored Chautauqua Belle, one of only five still-operating authentic steamers in North America. With her classic Steamboat lines, tall stacks and gingerbread lattice, the Belle is one of the most photographed and well-known icons in Western New York. As we cruise beautiful Chautauqua Lake, we’ll be regaled with history of the lake and we’ll partake in a tasty BBQ dinner. Then sit back and enjoy the water!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3 – Celoron to Niagara Falls, Ontario

We will depart after breakfast at the hotel and travel to the Lake Erie Grape Discovery Center to learn why western NY is the ideal place for growing concord grapes. A special demonstration is in store as a culinary chef shares with us his wide selection of all-natural, super premium salad dressings, salsas, and more! We’ll partake in tasty samples and leave with delicious recipes to take back home! We’ll also have time to browse their “grapey” gift shop. Then we’ll head to the historic and working Dunkirk Lighthouse, also known as Point Gratiot Light as it’s situated at Point Gratiot on Lake Erie. We’ll have the opportunity to climb the 61-foot square tower’s spiral stairs to the upper observation level, viewing its original third-order Fresnel lens – it still being used makes it a rarity! The light’s 27-mile range makes Dunkirk one of the most prominent on Lake Erie! As we tour the lighthouse grounds, we’ll get to walk through the restored 1800 lighthouse keeper’s home. A light picnic lunch is served on the grounds. What a special stop this has been! Next we travel to North Tonawanda, NY where deliciousness awaits at Platter’s Chocolate Factory! In 1938, Carl Platter decided to do what his friends and family said he did best, make chocolate. Not just any chocolate however, but the chocolate North Tonawanda has come to know and love: orange chocolate. During our visit, we’ll learn about their processes as we watch them from multiple viewing areas. Late afternoon we’ll depart, traveling up and around Lake Erie and into Canada to stunning Niagara Falls. We’re treated to two nights at the Sheraton at the Falls, with a picture-postcard view of the falls from our windows! Dinner is on your own.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Picnic Lunch

Hotel: Sheraton at the Falls – Fallsview Rooms (2 Nights)

Day 4 – Niagara Falls

A hearty breakfast at the hotel will prepare us for a full day of exploring this magnificent and industrious area. First we’ll head to the Niagara Parks Power Station, the first major power plant on the Canadian side of the Niagara River. Now featuring immersive exhibits, restored artifacts, and interactive storytelling, we will experience several different activities while here. From the most towering turbine to the tiniest detail, we’ll uncover fascinating stories hidden within the historic Niagara Parks Power Station. This not-to-be-missed experience will have us diving into the history of the visionaries behind the Station as well as the workers that kept it running for 100 years. Then we’ll descend 180 feet below the Power Station in a glass-paneled elevator! Our destination? The Tunnel! At 2,200-foot long, the Tunnel leads us to an observation deck at the powerful and beautiful river’s edge. Be sure you have your walking shoes on for this underground journey, and just wait until you find out how they excavated this tunnel in 1901! We’ll then head above ground for lunch on own before we experience Niagara Falls up close and from the water’s perspective. We’ll board the Niagara Cruises for a ride to the base of the falls for a truly unique way to enjoy one of the Seven Wonders of the World! The remainder of the afternoon is free time to relax or explore on your own. For dinner, we have chosen a delightful restaurant located in a restored 20th-century iconic building with spectacular panoramic views of the majestic falls! Afterwards, we will make our way back to the hotel where our fallsview rooms provide the perfect opportunity to experience the breathtaking evening view of hundreds of LED lights illuminating Niagara Falls.
