Day 3 – Shipshewana

Breakfast is included before we head out on a guided, full day Amish tour. Our first stop is at Silver Star Leather where Loren & Dorcas Yoder, an Old Order Amish couple, will show us their expert craftsmanship as they hand cut belts. Next we will head to the Rise ‘N Roll Bakery for coffee and a sample of their melt-in-your-mouth cinnamon caramel donuts! Don’t be surprised if you find yourself walking out with a tasty purchase or two! Then we’re off to make our very own Nine Patch wooden quilt block at Teaberry Wood Products. LaVern & Rachel, an Amish-Mennonite dynamic duo will show us their workshop and will help us create our wooden art. Afterwards we’ll take in the village all decorated in its fall splendor during our ride in a real Amish buggy. Then time will be given to enjoy the lovely town of Shipshewana as you have lunch on your own and time to shop. We gather back together with our guide for a special Q&A session with an Amish teacher in a one-room schoolhouse. We’ll thoroughly enjoy this interactive and enlightening experience! If time permits, we’ll then drive the Amish backroads. Our last tour stop will be at Carolyn’s Kitchen where we’ll meet Orly & Carolyn, Amish jam makers, who will show us how they make their all-natural jams. A private tasting allows us to savor their all-natural fruity goodness! Afterwards, dinner will be served buffet style before our evening entertainment provided by none other than Daniel O’Donnell! This affable and unassuming Irish born singer brings a charismatic and engaging stage presence with his mix of country and Irish folk music.

Arriving in Rock Island, IL, we’ll check into our hotel and then head to the Circa 21 Playhouse for a wonderful meal and a new musical comedy, The Addams Family! They’re creepy and they’re kooky, mysterious and spooky…The Addams Family. A comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare. Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before – keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
