Day 1 – Home to Two Harbors, MN

Our scenic North Shore adventure begins with a stop at the Lake Superior & Mississippi Railroad Co. All aboard the Duluth River Train for a 6-mile rail journey along the scenic St. Louis River. The fall color around us will add to the area’s beauty. You may wish to visit the open-air car to capture the sights with your camera and to watch a second locomotive being coupled to the train to pull us back to the depot. A box lunch will be served onboard. Our coach then departs for the famous Glensheen Mansion in Duluth where we’ll enjoy a guided tour this impressive, 29-room mansion. Built from 1905-1908, this Jacobean Revival mansion sits on 12 acres of waterfront property of Lake Superior. Be sure to explore the lovely grounds as well! Next we continue up the north shore to Two Harbors to check into the Grand Superior Lodge for two nights. What a wonderful setting! Dinner is served this evening at the resort.

Included Meals: Box Lunch, Dinner

Hotel: Grand Superior Lodge (2 Nights)

Day 2 – North Shore Exploring

A breakfast buffet at the lodge will fuel us for our day ahead. Departing with our step-on guide for the day, we will travel up the shore to picturesque Grand Marais. We will learn about the area’s history and beauty. Time will be given to enjoy shopping & lunch on your own in this quaint small town. Next, we travel south back along the shore to famous Split Rock Lighthouse. From the rocky North Shore cliffs, Split Rock Lighthouse guided freighters safely across the stormy waters of Lake Superior for half a century. We will be treated to the Keepers Tour, a 60-minute guided tour of the historic site, including the lighthouse and keepers house. We will also have access to the visitor center, historic grounds, and fog signal building to explore on our own. Before the afternoon is over, we will visit Gooseberry Falls. You will have time to explore the beauty here by walking the paved path to Middle & Lower Falls. A hike up the steps to Upper Falls is worth it! Our last stop has to be at Betty’s Pies, world-famous for their cream pies & fruit pies. You will get to enjoy a piece of pie of your choice – yum! We’ll return to our resort for a nice dinner together. The beautiful fall color has made our stops today all the more breathtaking!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Treat, Dinner

Day 3 – Two Harbors to Home

Enjoy another breakfast at the resort before we depart for Duluth, where time will be given to visit Canal Park. Then we’ll board the Vista Fleet for their 2-hour Grand Sightseeing Tour on Lake Superior. A tasty lunch is included as we cruise along on this narrated adventure. During our North Shore & More journey, we will have seen the most beautiful leaf peeping that Minnesota has to offer!
