Day 1 – Home to San Francisco

Fly to San Francisco, one of the most exciting and beautiful cities in America! Upon arrival in San Francisco, we will make our way to Fisherman’s Wharf to board a Red and White Fleet boat for a narrated San Francisco Bay cruise. We’ll enjoy sights of Alcatraz Island along with the legendary Golden Gate Bridge. The evening is at your leisure to enjoy more of the sights and sounds of San Francisco and Fisherman’s Wharf.

Hotel: Holiday Inn Express Fisherman’s Wharf

Day 2 – San Francisco to Sonoma

Our luxury motorcoach awaits this morning for an exciting city tour of San Francisco. A stop at the Golden Gate Bridge begins our day and then we’ll travel through the city, hearing stories of fires, earthquakes and flower power, all that helped shaped this unique city. After our city tour we will cross the Golden Gate Bridge and arrive at Sausalito, a pristine waterfront community located across the Bay, where you can enjoy lunch on your own. We’ll continue into the heart of Sonoma Wine Country with a visit to a charming winery. This evening enjoy a wonderful dinner and a restful night.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Hotel: Doubletree Sonoma Wine Country

Day 3 – Sonoma to Eureka

After breakfast we travel north with anticipation of the giants. We’ll drive the Avenue of the Giants and stop at the interpretive center in Humboldt Redwoods State Park, where we’ll be among giants that are taller and older than any other living thing known to man! We’ll stay in Eureka, the heart of lumber country, and be special guests at one of the last surviving lumber camp cookhouses in the West.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Hotel: Humboldt Bay Inn

Day 4 – Eureka to Gold Beach

Drive through Redwood National Park and see why it boasts some of the tallest trees in the world—reaching 368 feet and up to 12 feet in diameter. Continue our scenic drive up the rugged coastline and on into Oregon. We have planned a soft adventure for the afternoon—the original Rogue River Jet Boat Tour. The Rogue River Canyon abounds in a variety of wildlife, including osprey, deer, river otters, bald eagles, and more. Our boat will dock at Singing Springs for a delightful dinner before returning to Gold Beach for the night.

Included Meals: Light Breakfast, Dinner

Hotel: Sure Stay Plus Hotel

Day 5 – Gold Beach to Newport

Spectacular ocean vistas await us on our travels up the coastline! We’ll board special sand dune buggies for an exciting ride into the Oregon Dunes National Recreational Area and learn about this amazing region. Then it’s on to the Oregon Coast Aquarium featuring plentiful outdoor and indoor marine exhibits. We will be overnight guests at a luxury Newport historic waterfront hotel with wonderful sunset views!

Included Meals: Breakfast

Hotel: Elizabeth Street Inn

Day 6 – Newport to Portland

We’ll again experience some of the most scenic coastal views to be found anywhere! Stop at Yaquina Head Lighthouse, located at the mouth of the Yaquina River. Standing at 93 feet tall, it is the tallest lighthouse in Oregon. Another interesting fact is that it was made in Paris in 1868, then shipped to Oregon, and first lit in 1873. We’ll continue north as we drive sections of Three Capes Loop. After a visit at the Tillamook Cheese Factory, we will have some free time for lunch in Cannon Beach before making our way to Portland, a lovely city set on the banks of the beautiful Columbia River. We’ll have a fascinating two-night stay here in Portland.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Hotel: DoubleTree (2 Nights)

Day 7 – Portland

Today we ascend Mt. Hood for breathtaking views of the land below on an optional ski lift ride to the top. Then we’re treated to a guided tour of the Timberline Lodge. Learn about the unique construction of this beautiful lodge, constructed by WPA workers between 1936-1938, and dedicated by Franklin D. Roosevelt on September 28, 1937. Lunch will be at Timberline Lodge, before we drive along the picturesque Columbia River Gorge offering spectacular scenery, including the impressive Multnomah Falls. Alpine streams, lakes, and waterfalls create stunning scenery along this region formed by a stream of lava that flowed more than 10,000 years ago. We’ll make a stop at the impressive Bonneville Dam and salmon ladders before returning to Portland for a relaxing evening.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch
