Day 1 – Home to Tinley Park, IL
Board our luxury motorcoach for a wonderful scenic ride through Wisconsin and Illinois! We will have comfort stops and lunch at one of our favorite restaurants!! Before we tuck ourselves in for the evening, we will stop for dinner along the way.

Day 2 – Tinley Park to London, ONT.
After breakfast at the hotel, we board the motorcoach and make our way to London, Ontario for our overnight at the lovely Lamplighter Inn.

Day 3 – London to Kingston, ONT.
Today on our way to Kingston, we will stop in Toronto for a little time to enjoy its beautiful waterfront. Tonight we check into our hotel for a restful evening.

Day 4 – Kingston to Montreal, QC – Via Rail
This morning after breakfast we will experience a breathtaking voyage on a 1000 Islands cruise. We’ll see Boldt Castle, the Statue of St. Lawrence, 1000 Islands Interntional Bridge, and Zavikon Islands containing the smallest International Bridge in the world. This afternoon we make our way to Montreal. Then this evening we embark on a train adventure as we board The Ocean VIA Rail. Check into your cozy sleeper cabin complete with private bathroom, and at night your attendant will convert the seating into one lower & one upper bed. Imagine departing Montreal just as dusk is falling, shrouding the city skyline as you pull through the Monteregie Hills, distant lights marking the small towns that pass by on our journey east. Enjoy a freshly prepared dinner of regional specialities this evening in the dining car. After dinner you may relax in the lounge or catch a wine tasting in the dome car. This evening let the rhythm of the train lull you to sleep!

Day 5 – VIA Rail to Halifax
As dawn breaks, the train is descending the coast of the Baie-des- Chaleurs. After breakfast in the dining car, watch the beautiful views unfold around you from your private cabin or for even a more expansive view, head to the dome car! Throughout the day there will be opportunity to take in a musical act or maritime history lesson. Lunch will be served in the dining car with views of the New Brunswick countryside. Our relaxing train ride ends in Halifax, where we meet the fly group & have the evening at your leisure, with many dining choices surrounding our hotel.

Day 6 – Halifax
A local step on guide will join us today. Take in the charming coastal villages reflecting Acadian French history that dot the shoreline. We’ll visit the Grand Pre Historic Park, a historic site depicting the story of the expulsion of the Acadians, immortalized in Longfellow’s tragic romance “Evangeline.” Lunch will be at a wonderful country inn overlooking the valley.

Day 7 – Halifax
This morning our local guide joins us as we continue to sightsee the city of Halifax. From atop Citadel Hill, observe Halifax’s famous, bustling harbor where ships have come and gone for many years. Halifax is the resting place for many Titanic victims, giving us a chance to pay our respects. Travel the Lighthouse Route and on to the lovely seaport village of Lunenburg, the famous shipbuilding and fishing center of Canada. We’ll spot countless islands and coves before arriving in Lunenburg and savor a tasty lunch at the Fish Factory Restaurant. We’ll take a look at the famous Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic and stop for an awe-inspiring stroll along the water’s edge. Our afternoon will take us out to famous Peggy’s Cove, a quaint little fishing village which stands on a solid rock that offers sweeping coastal views. Returning to Halifax, we’ll enjoy a relaxing evening.

Day 8 – Halifax to Baddeck
We’ll travel the “Road to the Isles” over the Canso Strait to Cape Breton Island. See Bras d’Or Lake, a beautiful inland sea. Later we will visit the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Museum which houses Bell’s most remarkable collection of early inventions. Our hotel is located in the heart of Baddeck, a scenic village reflecting the atmosphere of old Scotland. Dinner will be at the lodge.

Day 9 – Baddeck
This morning our local guide joins us as we head out for the day. Brace yourself for some of the most breathtaking scenery as we take one of the world’s most scenic drives: the Cabot Trail winds through Cape Breton Highlands National Park, past majestic rock bluffs and through deep stream-lined valleys. We’ll stop along the way at Flora’s gift shop with hand-crafted goods made by the local Acadian French artists in their native traditions. Lunch will be on your own at Pleasant Bay along the beautiful Cabot Trail before we continue exploring Cape Breton Island with many photo stops along the way. Dinner will be served at the lodge tonight.

Day 10 – Baddeck to Prince Edward Island
We’ll ferry to the birthplace of Canada, Prince Edward Island, where unspoiled beauty abounds on this peaceful isle – a favorite summer resort destination. A sunny day on Prince Edward Island is like nowhere else on earth! This afternoon a local step-on guide will join us in Charlottetown. We’ll admire lovely Victorian homes and gardens as we tour this historic capital city. Enjoy a visit to the Prince Edward Island Preserve Company & hear how it all began. Prince Edward Island is famous for its lobster, so what better place to learn about the fishing industry in North Rustico before enjoying a maritime lobster dinner this evening at The Fisherman’s Wharf! Our home for the next two nights is The Hotel on Pownal, located in the heart of downtown Charlottetown on historic Pownal Street.

Day 11 – Prince Edward Island
Enjoy exploring Charlottetown on your own this morning before once again we are joined by our local step-on guide for the afternoon. Discover Green Gables, the literary home of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s “Anne of Green Gables.” Visiting the Museum, taking a horse & buggy ride, visiting the Green Gables House, walking the Haunted Woods and Lover’s Lane will bring this classic to life! Our continued tour of this lovely island will display the magnificent beaches of Prince Edward Island National Park and the rich farmlands of red soil and rolling hillsides with the beautiful Atlantic Ocean as a backdrop. After an evening meal we’ll be guests at a Ceilidh (house party)!

Day 12 – PEI to St. Andrew by the Sea
Departing the island, we’ll cross the Northumberland Strait on the Confederation Bridge which spans the island and New Brunswick. Take some time to browse in the local shops and visitor center of the Gateway Village just below the Confederation Bridge. We’ll follow the Kennebecasis River Valley to Saint John, where we will see the amazing Reversing Falls. This phenomenon is caused when the tide off the Bay of Fundy reverses the flow of the St. Johns River 80 miles up stream. Arriving in beautiful St. Andrew by the Sea, we’ll check into the grand Algonquin Resort. Dinner will be on your own so you may choose from one of the outstanding restaurants in the hotel or select one along the water’s edge in the downtown village.

Day 13 – St. Andrew to Bar Harbor
Embark on a fascinating nature boat cruise along the coastline enroute to Campobello Island, the place where Franklin D. Roosevelt’s summer cottage is set. Lunch will be on your own at Helen’s in Machais, known for their scrumptious pies and clam chowder. Later depart for Bar Harbor, which is graced with quaint shops, galleries, and picturesque vistas. Tonight we will enjoy a delicious farewell dinner at the Hotel.

Day 14 – Bar Harbor to Revere, MA
Visit Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island, which offers lovely harbors and coves perfectly nestled among forested lands, then drive the summit of Cadillac Mountain for a spectacular view of the rugged coast. Before leaving Bar Harbor, we’ll enjoy lunch on our own at the fun Route 66 Diner. Then we make our way to Revere for the evening.

Day 15 – Revere to Buffalo, NY
Today we say goodbye to our fly group as we drop them off at the Boston airport. We continue our journey in the motorcoach as we head to Buffalo, NY for the evening, having stops along the way for lunch and dinner.

Day 16 – Buffalo to Aurora, IL
Fill up on a delicious breakfast before we board our luxury motorcoach. Fun and games will be had as we motor along the highway, with comfort stops, lunch and dinner along the way. This evening you’ll head to bed and dream about the next R&J Tour that you might want to take!

Day 17 – Aurora to Home
It’s been a wonderful journey with only today left! Have a hearty breakfast and board the motorcoach knowing you are in great hands. Sit back, relax, play a game or two, watch a movie, or just visit with your neighbor…we will stop for coffee breaks and lunch while we reminisce about the fantastic “Nova Scotia in Autumn Tour” that we just took!
