Day 1 – Overnight Flight to Germany

Sit back and relax as our flight to Germany departs today and our incredible journey begins! An R&J Tour Director is there to assist you throughout the tour.

 

Day 2 – Arrive in Berlin

After arriving in Germany’s vibrant capital, Berlin, we’ll be warmly welcomed before heading to our centrally located 4-star hotel, the H4 Berlin Alexanderplatz. The afternoon is set aside to rest and recuperate after the journey, allowing everyone to settle in comfortably. This evening, enjoy a delicious 3-course welcome dinner at the hotel—an ideal opportunity to meet fellow travelers and ease into the adventure ahead.

Day 3 – Berlin

Today offers a rich and insightful exploration of Berlin. We’ll start with a panoramic coach tour highlighting iconic landmarks such as the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, and the colourful East Side Gallery. In the afternoon, we’ll dive into Berlin’s complex past with a visit to the thought-provoking Topography of Terror museum. This will be followed by a guided tour and eyewitness talk at the Stasi Museum, providing powerful first-hand accounts of life during East Germany’s surveillance era. We’ll conclude our day with a relaxing 3-course dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 4 – Berlin to Dresden

We depart Berlin this morning and head into the picturesque Saxon countryside. First we will visit the world-renowned Meissen Porcelain Factory for a guided tour to discover their production rooms and artisians creating porcelain live. Lunch is served in their Café MEISSEN. Afterward, enjoy a charming visit to Proschwitz Castle with a vineyard tour and delightful wine tasting. By evening, we’ll check into the elegant Hilton Dresden. Unwind and reflect over a 3-course dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 – Dresden

Dresden reveals its baroque beauty to us today. We’ll begin with a gentle walking tour through the lovely gardens of the Zwinger Complex. Then we’ll visit the magnificent Frauenkirche, a Baroque-style Lutheran church that was reconstructed between 1994 and 2005 after having been destroyed in WWII. A 2-course lunch at a cozy local restaurant provides a perfect midday break. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the treasures of one of the oldest buildings in Dresden, the Royal Palace, from its historic Green Vault to the Armoury. Enjoy the remainder of the day and evening at leisure, with time to stroll along the Elbe River or enjoy a quiet dinner in town.

Day 6 – Dresden to Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Today we travel through idyllic landscapes to the fairytale town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. A local guide will bring the town’s medieval charm to life with a tour including the Town Hall and St. Jacob’s Church, where the famed Holy Blood altarpiece resides. Later, we’ll settle into the Hotel Tilman Riemenschneider and enjoy a traditional 3-course dinner in this beautifully preserved gem of a town.

Day 7 – Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Munich

En route to Munich, we’ll stop in historic Nuremberg. A guided visit to the former Nazi Party Rally Grounds offers a meaningful reflection on 20th-century history. Enjoy lunch at your own pace in the quaint Old Town before continuing to Munich. After checking in at the NH Munich Bavaria, we’ll sit down to a hearty Bavarian 3-course dinner, a delightful welcome to this lively southern city.

Day 8 – Munich

Begin the day with a guided, slow-paced walking tour of Munich’s old city, including its central square, Marienplatz, which is considered the city’s heart. Also included is the beautiful Frauenkirche. This cathedral first opened in 1494 and stands 323’ tall! Midday brings a local culinary treat—a 3-course lunch with a beer tasting experience, offering a flavorful taste of Bavarian culture. The afternoon is yours to relax or perhaps explore the impressive Deutsches Museum. Dinner is at leisure to enjoy Munich’s inviting atmosphere at your own pace.

Day 9 – Munich to Oberammergau to Munich

Today features a full-day excursion into Bavaria’s scenic soul. First, we’ll visit the storybook Neuschwanstein Castle, complete with carriage or shuttle ride and a guided tour of its fairytale halls – it’s truly spectacular! Later, guided by a local expert, we’ll discover the picturesque town of Oberammergau, famed for its Passion Play and frescoed buildings. Return to Munich in the evening with time to dine at your leisure.

Day 10 – Munich to Freiburg im Breisgau

Depart Munich and travel through southern Germany into the enchanting Black Forest region. Enjoy a stop for a delightful demonstration and tasting of traditional Black Forest cake. Afterwards we’ll visit Triberg to marvel at the world’s largest cuckoo clock and explore local workshops. Arrive in Freiburg im Breisgau and check in to the Central Hotel before enjoying a comforting 3-course dinner together.

Day 11 – Freiburg to Heidelberg

This morning, we’ll head to the romantic city of Heidelberg. Visit the majestic Heidelberg Castle with a guided tour through its historic courtyards and gardens. The afternoon is free to wander the charming Old Town at your own pace. In the evening, we’ll check in at the Hilton Heidelberg and share dinner together in this beautiful riverside setting.

Day 12 – Heidelberg to Mainz

A scenic drive takes us into the heart of the Rhine Valley. Spend time at leisure in the wine town of Rüdesheim am Rhein, perhaps exploring the quaint Drosselgasse. Then, relax aboard a picturesque Rhine river cruise, gliding past castles and vineyards. Seeing the scenic landscapes from the river’s view will be lovely! The day concludes in Mainz, where we’ll settle into the Hilton Mainz for our final evening in Germany and a farewell dinner.

Day 13 – Mainz to Frankfurt to Home

After breakfast, we’ll check out of our hotel and head to the Frankfurt airport, taking home grand memories of Romantic Germany!
