St. Charles Antiquing
– Hosted by Sharon Hansen –
A warm invitation goes out to lovers of antiques & collectibles. I’m Sharon Hansen and I’m an antique lover from way back. I’ve been collecting antiques and collectibles for our home for more than 35 years. My motto is: “If you love it, you’ll find a place for it.” Join my husband Dan and I as we explore historic St. Charles and Geneva. We’ll take you back in time and experience yesterday’s memories on this amazing antique hunt. This trip is a perfect balance of old: antique shops and historic sights and sounds; and new: great dining and theater. Join us for a nostalgic, relaxing, memorable tour!
Day 01 – Home to St. Charles
Depart with high expectations of finding several prized antiques. You can only imagine at this point just how fascinating this antique hunt will be, only to find out each day seems to be more relaxing, and more exciting than the day before. Our luxury motorcoach will stop for morning coffee, noon lunch, and mid afternoon coffee before winding its way into historic St. Charles, Illinois, on the Fox River. We’ll check into our hotel before we head to Al Capone’s Hideaway and Steakhouse, where the food, the roaring 20’s atmosphere, and the music are hard to resist!
Included Meals: Dinner
Hotel: Country Inn & Suites
Day 02 – St. Charles
A hot breakfast will be served before we head out for an entire day of spectacular antiquing. On the east bank of the Fox River we will enjoy a welcome reception, complete with coffee and cookies. Then we’ll explore the historic shops of Century Corners: 3rd Street Shops—a collection of unique shops in historic downtown St. Charles. Then we’ll gather our finds, load the bus, and head over to Antique Markets 1 & 111, where more than 50 dealers offer their treasure trove of antiques and collectibles. Lunch is included at the historic “Crown Jewel of the Fox” Hotel Baker, where a perfect riverside setting and a freshly-inspired cuisine awaits us. After this delightful lunch and a tour of this historic hotel, a representative will board our motorcoach and guide us on a driving tour of historic St. Charles. Later we’ll check out historic downtown Geneva for our next antique adventure just a few miles away. We’ll start at “The Little Traveler” and visit the many other Geneva antique shops. The evening tops off the day with a fabulous dinner and live theater at Pheasant Run Resort.
Included Meals: Light Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Day 03 – St. Charles
We’ll enjoy breakfast before we curiously embark on another adventure. Our journey begins at Pottawatomic Park with a scenic cruise aboard a paddle riverboat, an exact replica of Mark Twain’s boat. Later we’ll spend the afternoon searching for treasures we can’t possibly leave behind at Kane County Antique Flea Market, coined “the best in the west or anywhere.” Find more than 1,000 quality dealers feature antiques, collectibles, and fancy junk. The evening dinner is included at 18 North, a unique spot defining casually-elegant dining. We’ll spend the evening elaborating on our fantastic finds.
Included Meals: Light Breakfast, Dinner
Day 04 – St. Charles to Home
After a light breakfast we’ll head for home with moments to reflect on our fascinating journey back in time, where we envy a more relaxing, less stressful, less hectic, and more restful time. We’ll stop for our usual coffee breaks and noon lunch before our antiquing getaway comes to a close.
