Turn this retro trip down memory lane into a Mother/Daughter (or even Granddaughter!) trip! What special memories, and perhaps some giggles, you will share together!

Day 1 – Home to Des Moines, IA

Welcome aboard – it’s time to let our creative juices flow as we explore unique items from times past and dream of what they could be now! As we make our way to Des Moines today, we will get to know our fellow travelers and enjoy stopping at some unique antique and repurposing stores along the way. Each stop is sure to satisfy! After we check into our hotel for the night and enjoy the manager’s reception, we will depart for a fun night of painting with a twist! How will you transform a blank canvas into a work of art?

Included Meals: Lunch, Manager’s Reception

Hotel: Drury Inn

Day 2 – Des Moines to Kansas City, MO

Today we depart Des Moines and head to Kansas City for an included lunch. Afterwards, we will spend the afternoon finding transformed treasures! First up is River Market Antiques, home to 30,000 sq. ft. of nostalgia! Then we head to the popular Brass Armadillo, specializing in everything from furniture to primitives, antique lighting to antique clocks & watches, antique silver to sports memorabilia, and all the latest in the collectibles! We wonder what treasures you will find as you browse and hunt at these special places! We will then have a chance to get settled into our hotel for the next two nights before departing for the New Theater for dinner and the Million Dollar Quartet show. Capturing the contagious spirit, freewheeling excitement, and thrilling sounds of the once-in-a-lifetime event where four of music’s best talents came together, this show will have us tapping out roes to Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Elvis Presley, & Johnny Cash! We’re sure to sleep well tonight after another exciting day on the road.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Hotel: Drury Inn (2 Nights)

Day 3 – Kansas City to Kansas City

After a leisurely morning and a relaxed breakfast at our hotel, we depart for RE-mporium – a thoughtfully curated retail store full of one-of-a-kind pieces. We will have the opportunity to transform our own treasures as we participate in a guided make-n-take workshop at the store. How fun it will be for us to each make a serving tray from reclaimed wood! We are sure to have worked up an appetite during our morning, so an included lunch at the famous Jack Stack BBQ is in order. Now that we have been inspired by turning trash to treasure, we are on our way to do some more shopping! You are sure to find just what you are looking for and maybe some things you didn’t even know you needed at our next two stops, Show Me Antiques and the Glenwood Antique Mall. Later we will head back to our hotel and enjoy the manager’s reception. Tonight, you have the option of returning to the Brass Armadillo to continue exploring this large complex or enjoying a quiet night at the hotel.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Manager’s Reception

Day 4 – Kansas City to Omaha, NE

This morning we pack up and head to Omaha, Nebraska, but not before another delicious breakfast at our hotel. We will make a stop at WD Pickers on our way as well as a doubly fun stop – Jesse James Antique Mall and Furniture Gallery (voted St. Joseph’s favorite antique mall for 7 years running!) and the Rusty Chandelier, an eclectic mix of vintage and antique goods. We will stop for lunch on our own en route before arriving at the beautiful Lauritzen Gardens in Omaha. Discover a hidden sanctuary in the heart of the city and relax while cultivating your mind in this living plant museum, located in the beautiful riverfront hills. We will check in for two nights to our hotel in Old Town Omaha before departing for an included group dinner tonight. After dinner, enjoy the night life in Old Town by taking in some music, the architecture, or just enjoy people watching!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Hotel: Embassy Suites (2 Nights)

Day 5 – Omaha

No need to hurry this morning! Enjoy your breakfast and relax a bit before we depart for an extra special treat! We will experience a cooking class hosted by a team of talented chefs. After an enlightening class, we will get to eat the exquisite meal prepared for us during the class. It will be a unique experience you will remember long after our tour arrives home. This afternoon we will get back to shopping! Found Market focuses primarily on repurposed furniture and this store mixes old and new in a beautiful way. We will also spend some time at the Omaha location of the famous Brass Armadillo where there is something for everyone, whether you tend toward antiques or repurposed classics. One more stop at Junk-N-Treasure will provide the retail therapy you need before we prepare for our last night on tour. Tonight, experience a relaxing dinner aboard the River City Star riverboat. Enjoy cruising the Missouri River and the sights along the way…the Illinois Central Swing Bridge, the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge, and the Omaha and Council Bluffs Riverfronts. What a beautiful night on the river!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6 – Omaha to Home

It’s been such a wonderful tour – we’ve learned about repurposing and experienced the past through antique shopping! After a leisurely morning, we will depart for home with a stop in Walnut, Iowa at Walnut Antiques. Is there one more thing you were hoping to find? This is your chance! We will have lunch on our own as we navigate toward home. Share your finds with fellow travelers or your plans for repurposing the items you came home with!
