Day 1 – Home to Milwaukee, WI

Our Badger Breakaway starts with an included lunch in Tomah before we make our way to the Mustard Museum. A mustard museum you say? Absolutely! With more than 6,090 mustards from all 50 states and more than 70 countries, their collection of mustard history is a sight to behold! Then we depart the “King of Condiments” and continue on to Milwaukee where we’ll check into our hotel located perfectly downtown. Enjoy partaking in the Drury’s Kickback Reception, which is a complete light meal. The remainder of the evening is on your own. You may wish to walk to the riverfront, which is just one short block away. Or if you feel like stretching your legs more, Lake Michigan is less than a mile away.

Included Meals: Lunch, Drury Kickback

Hotel: Drury Inn Downtown (2 Nights)

Day 2 – Milwaukee

Following a hearty and healthy breakfast, we are special guests of Laverne & Shirley who will lead us on a Schlemiel, Schlimazel tour of Milwaukee! If you are a fan of the Laverne & Shirley show, you will appreciate seeing Milwaukee’s City Hall, which was the opening shot of the show. See Polish Flats and the Brewery that made Milwaukee famous, Shotz. We’ll stop to see Laverne’s heart throb the Bronze Fronz Statue – bring your camera! We’ll tour Lakefront Brewery and enjoy two samples. Since Laverne’s pop made the best pizza in Milwaukee, a pizza lunch is planned! Our day also includes a game of mini-bowling because the girls have to keep their skill sharp for the Shotz Brewery Tournament as well as a tasty dish of frozen custard from Leon’s Drive-In. Then we bid Laverne & Shirley good-bye as we board our narrated, sightseeing cruise to explore Milwaukee’s past and present from the rivers, harbors, and Lake Michigan. We’ll have our cameras ready as there will be picturesque views and unique perspectives of Milwaukee’s history and architecture to capture. Upon docking, we’ll return to our hotel to once again enjoy the Drury’s Kickback Reception.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Drury Kickback

Day 3 – Milwaukee to Oshkosh, WI

Following breakfast we will head to the entrance of the Milwaukee River from Lake Michigan. Here sits the North Point Lighthouse. Our guide will tell us all about why this lighthouse is so unique (hint: 1855, 1888 & 1912!) and we’ll enjoy seeing the charming Queen Anne-style light keeper’s quarters. Departing Milwaukee, we travel north to the lovely and historic town of Cedarburg. First we’ll experience a guided tour of the Cedar Creek Winery where we’ll learn the history of their building, a restored 1860s woolen mill, as well as visit their underground limestone cellars. Along the tour, we’ll enjoy a sampling of several wines while learning about how they are made, aged, and bottled. Afterwards, time will be given to shop Cedarburg’s speciality stores like Downtown Dough which carries cookie cutters for every hobby, sport, & celebration! Enjoy lunch on your own, perhaps at one of the restaurants located along Cedar Creek or maybe you’re just in the mood for a big, sweet, and juicy caramel apple from Amy’s Candy Kitchen! Then we continue on to Oshkosh, located on the banks of the Lake Winnebago. Visiting the EAA Aviation Museum, we’ll watch, listen, learn, and interact with a variety of exhibits encompassing all eras of flight. Next we’ll check into the Holiday Inn Express & Suites before we head to Fox River’s waterfront for a wonderful dining experience at Fox River Brewing Company.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Hotel: Holiday Inn Express & Suites

Day 4 – Oshkosh to Home

Breakfast is served before we enjoy an interesting guided tour of the Oshkosh area. Then we make our way to the northern shoreline of Lake Winnebago to the Bergstrom-Mahler Museum of Glass. Be sure you have closed-toe shoes on! First a glass blowing demonstration will provide us an informative and entertaining look at what glass is, how it behaves at high temperatures, and how people manipulate glass to create beautiful works of art. Then we’ll enjoy a hands-on experience with glass as we make our own sun catcher to hang from a window when we return home! Lastly, a docent will lead us on a tour about glass art history as we take in their amazing exhibits and collections. Lunch is included before we leave town and journey home, having made new travel friends and fond memories of our Badger Breakaway!
