Day 1 – Home to Fond Du Lac

We make our way to Wisconsin with lunch in Wausau before our first stop at Ledgerock Distillery. During our tour, we will explore the “Best of Wisconsin’s Craft Beer/Wine Culture Distillery” and experience their fine collection with some tastings. Then we tour La Clare Creamery, where everything is about pursuing perfection in flavor and quality to produce distinctly delicious goat cheese. Whether it’s the creamy canvas of their chevre infused with unique flavors or their robust hard cheeses, we’ll be licking our lips! We will also get to be their guests for a tasty farm-to-table dinner.

Day 2 – Fond Du Lac to Ft. Atkinson

After breakfast we will learn all about Fond Du Lac during a city tour. Next we will visit Faris Gourmet Popcorn. You may wish to purchase one (or two!) of their many flavors of delicious, high quality popcorn. Afterwards we’ll enjoy an interesting tour at Alliance Manufacturing, who specializes in the conceptual design, engineering, & manufacturing of water-based (aqueous) parts washers and parts cleaning systems for the industrial products market. Lunch will be at the Cellar District, founded in 2021, right here in Fond Du Lac. The Cellar District is known for revolutionizing the way people experience dining out. They take pride in their ability to discover some unique ways to combine local, fresh ingredients and the dining experience as a whole. After lunch history comes alive at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum. Showcasing transportation history, the museum is Wisconsin’s largest auto museum, featuring an ever-changing display of classic and vintage autos and artifacts like gas pumps, plus the largest assembled group of Hartford-built Kissel luxury automobiles. The museum’s art deco interior sets off 115+ vehicles on exhibit including Pontiacs, Studebakers, Chevrolets, Kaisers, Fords, and other cars from around the world. An assortment of outboard engines built in Hartford from 1930s – 1990s are also on display. Then we will travel to Ft. Atkinson for a wonderful dinner & show at the Fireside Dinner Theatre. Here we will enjoy the production of “Fiddler on the Roof!” “A fiddler on the roof, sounds crazy, no?” Fall in love with Tevye, the long-suffering dairyman who struggles to find a balance between his traditions and his family. The show’s universal theme touches everyone, leaving audiences crying tears of both joy and sadness. Including such iconic songs as “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker,” Fiddler on the Roof is the perfect mix of audience-pleasing humor and heart.

Day 3 – Ft. Atkinson to Rock Island, IL

After breakfast we will be depart the hotel and make our way to Illinois where the Celebration Belle riverboat awaits to take us on a scenic Mississippi River cruise. A wonderful hot lunch buffet will be served and our captain will take us by Rock Island Arsenal and the largest roller dam in the world. We’ll also learn fascinating history about Chief Black Hawk, see the location where the first railroad bridge crossed the Mississippi River, and much more! This afternoon we are off to experience a refreshing treat at Whitey’s Ice Cream, named the “Best in the Midwest” by Midwest Living Magazine! Later we’ll head to the Circa 21 Playhouse for a scrumptious dinner followed by “Church Basement Ladies!” The church basement kitchen throughout much of America is often the heart and soul of any church. In Church Basement Ladies we meet the pastor, three kitchen cooks and one daughter who run the kitchen and care for the congregation by preparing and serving the food. Like any great kitchen, problems are solved here as well. We see the four women handle a Lutefisk dinner, a funeral, an Easter fundraiser, and a wedding. They stave off potential disasters, have fun, share and debate recipes, instruct the young, and keep the pastor on due course. This musical comedy based on recipes, food, and change in the church is funny, heartwarming, and down to earth.
