Over the next few days, we’ll venture into the heart of Norway’s fjord region and admire some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery! We continue descending into Eidfjord, then follow the picturesque shoreline of the Hardangerfjord to Lofthus. Along the way, take in farm-dotted landscapes, brilliant blue lakes, rushing rivers, towering waterfalls, sheer rock walls, winding tunnels, and dramatic hairpin turns. Later, arrive in the enchanting village of Lofthus, nestled along the shores of Hardangerfjord, Norway’s second-largest fjord. We’ll unpack for a relaxing 3-night stay at the beautiful Hotel Ullensvang, idyllically set on the fjord amid Norway’s largest orchard, with snow-capped mountains creating a spectacular backdrop! Day 6 – Ulvik
A day of scenic splendors begins as we board a fjord cruise departing directly from the hotel pier. As we cruise across the Hardangerfjord from Lofthus to Ulvik aboard a Norled fjord cruise, we’re treated to a quiet and intimate fjord experience. As the boat glides across calm waters, take in views of orchard-lined hillsides, charming fruit farms, and mountains that gradually rise more dramatically as you near Ulvik. Unlike some of Norway’s narrower and steeper fjords, this beautiful stretch of Hardangerfjord is known for its softer pastoral scenery and peaceful landscapes, creating a relaxing and memorable journey. Disembarking, we’ll take a short scenic drive along the Hardangerfjord to the charming village of Ulvik. Here, visit a local fruit farm for a traditional Hardanger cider tasting experience paired with a light lunch featuring regional specialties. Sample a variety of locally produced ciders crafted from different apple varieties, accompanied by cured meats, cheeses, preserves, and other local delicacies. Set among orchards overlooking the fjord, the visit offers an authentic introduction to one of Norway’s most distinctive food traditions while highlighting the unique climate and growing conditions that make Hardanger cider so highly regarded. After time to soak in the peaceful surroundings, we’ll return to the hotel in the afternoon. Dinner is included at the hotel this evening.

This typical 19th century residence with a panoramic tower and large veranda overlooks Nordas Lake. We’ll enjoy a concert of Grieg’s music in a special concert hall.
