Day 1 – Home to Delavan, WI
Off we go, traveling through the rolling hills of Wisconsin to Delavan, where we’ll check into the charming Lake Lawn Resort. Situated along two miles of Delavan Lake’s shoreline, Lake Lawn Resort has welcomed guests for over 140 years! This beautiful resort and historic grounds are a picturesque backdrop of Delavan. Tonight, we dine at the Rosewood, followed by their dynamic Country Crossroads show – a perfect kickoff to our celebration of Route 66’s 100th anniversary! This toe-tapping performance features a soundtrack of classic American hits – songs by Glen Campbell, Larry Gatlin, Willie Nelson, Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, James Taylor, Johnny Cash, Brooks & Dunn, Lady A, Vince Gill, and more. These are the timeless tunes that once filled the airwaves – and car radios – of travelers making their way along the legendary Route 66. What better way to set the tone for our adventure down America’s most iconic highway?!

Day 2 – Delavan to Pontiac, IL
We depart Delavan and make a special stop in Joliet, IL at the historic Rialto Square Theatre, which first opened in 1926. With magnificent European architecture, we’ll enjoy a tour of this “vaudeville movie palace” as well as a special organ concert! A delightful lunch will be served in the beautiful Rotunda at the theatre. Next, we hit the road to explore some of Route 66’s most iconic roadside landmarks, including Gemini Giant, 2 Cell Jail, Ambler’s Texaco Gas Station, and Standard Oil of IL Gas Station. Our goal throughout the tour will be to travel on as much of the original Route 66 Highway that still exists as possible! Our day concludes in Pontiac, where we’ll enjoy a hearty dinner at Bob & Ringo’s Grill & Smokehouse – the perfect ending to a day steeped in history, nostalgia, and Americana.

Day 3 – Pontiac to St. Louis, MO
What better way to kick off another day on the Route 66 adventure than with a visit to the Route 66 Hall of Fame and Museum? Step back in time as you explore thousands of pieces of memorabilia from the golden era of the Mother Road. Discover the rich history of Route 66 in Illinois and enjoy stories that capture the spirit of a bygone America when this highway was the lifeline of the nation. Next, we head to the Pontiac-Oakland Automobile Museum, home to a fascinating collection of classic Pontiac and Oakland vehicles that reflect decades of American automotive innovation. We’ll enjoy a classic diner-style lunch at the Pontiac Family kitchen, a nostalgic eatery located right on Route 66. Our journey continues south to St. Louis, where we’ll settle in for two nights at the historic Drury Plaza Hotel St. Louis at the Arch. Our hotel is perfectly situated in the heart of downtown and just steps from one of the country’s most iconic landmarks. This evening partake in the Drury’s Kickback Reception, which is a complete light meal.

Day 4 – St. Louis
This morning, a local guide joins us for a day full of history, charm, and Route 66 nostalgia. Enjoy a driving tour of downtown, the historic riverfront, and the neighborhoods of Soulard and Lafayette Square. Next, we visit the city’s most famous landmark: the towering Gateway Arch. Choose between a thrilling tram ride to the top for sweeping views of the Mississippi River or a fascinating documentary film highlighting the Arch’s remarkable construction. Afterward, take time to explore the interactive museum beneath the Arch, offering immersive exhibits on westward expansion. Our tour continues through Forest Park, site of the 1904 World’s Fair, before we enjoy lunch at Favazza’s Restaurant, located in the heart of “The Hill,” St. Louis’s beloved Italian neighborhood. No Route 66 visit is complete without dessert at the legendary Ted Drewes Frozen Custard, a sweet stop that has delighted travelers for generations. In the afternoon, cruise down Historic Route 66 (Watson Road) to see some of the original mid-century motels still standing today. We’ll wrap up our day in Maplewood, a vibrant district once a part of the original Route 66 path. Here, you’ll have time to stroll the streets, browse locally owned boutiques, and discover one-of-a-kind treasures in this eclectic community. We’ll return to the Drury for a relaxing evening and partake in the Kickback.

Day 5 – St. Louis to Rolla, MO
We start our day exploring the splendor of one of America’s most magnificent theatres! We’re treated to a guided tour of the Fabulous Fox Theatre, a grand palace-style theatre that is five stories high! Then back on the road, and on to Route 66 icons such as Papa’s Diner, Campbell’s Service Station, Red Cedar Inn Museum, Red Rocker, and Fanning Outpost. Then we continue on to Rolla, where we’ll stay tonight and have dinner at a diner.

Day 6 – Rolla to Muscatine, IA
We begin the day in the charming town of Cuba, Missouri, where art and history come together. Known as the “Route 66 Mural City,” Cuba showcases a vibrant collection of outdoor murals that vividly capture the stories, people, and moments that shaped both the town and the iconic highway. From there, we journey to Hannibal, Missouri, the boyhood home of Mark Twain. Enjoy time to stroll the same streets that inspired Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn, visit Twain’s Boyhood Home & Museum, and grab lunch on your own in the quaint Main Street Historic District. Continuing up the Mississippi, we arrive in Muscatine for our final overnight stay at the elegant Merrill Hotel, beautifully located along the riverfront. We’ll easily settle into our riverview rooms. Tonight, we’ll gather for a memorable farewell dinner at the hotel – an ideal setting to toast to the friendships made and memories shared along the Mother Road!

Day 7 – Muscatine to Home
Before we make our way home, we’ll enjoy one last stop at the fascinating Pearl Button Museum. Just a short walk from the Merrill Hotel, this hidden gem offers a treasure trove of history, science, and stories centered around the pearl button industry that once made Muscatine the “Pearl Button Capital of the World.” Discover how something so small played such a big role in America’s industrial past. Then it’s back on the motorcoach for the final leg of our unforgettable journey through history, music, and the spirit of Rolling on Route 66: Mother Road Beginnings!
