Day 1 – Home to San Antonio, TX
The magic of Christmas comes alive on the Riverwalk in San Antonio, Texas! Be dazzled by approximately 122,000 Christmas lights that form a brilliant canopy over the Riverwalk! After our flight, we’ll check into the Drury Plaza Riverwalk for a relaxing four night stay right in the heart of the festivities. As we get to know our fellow travelers, we will enjoy a delicious dinner at Landry’s this evening.

Day 2 – Riverwalk
This morning we will tour the impressive Witte Museum. Enjoy some time viewing natural history, from dinosaur bones & cave drawings to South Texas heritage & textiles. We’ll make a stop at San Antonio’s Pearl District for lunch on our own. Then we take in an afternoon holiday performance at the Tobin Center, experiencing the magic of Ballet San Antonio’s “The Nutcracker!” With live music performed by the San Antonio Symphony and a children’s cast of over 100 children, it’s magical! Tonight we encourage you to walk around the corner from our hotel to “The Saga,” a spectacular light show displayed on the outside of the San Fernando Cathedral. This has been a highlight for many previous R&J travelers!

Day 3 – Fredericksburg, TX
Breakfast is served at the hotel before we enjoy a self-guided tour of the Sauer-Beckman Living History Farm at LBJ State Park. Park Rangers wearing historical clothing will be taking care of daily chores like feeding & milking the animals, churning butter, & more. Then we’ll motor to Fredericksburg for shopping and lunch on our own, followed by a tour of the National Museum of the Pacific War. The history of the Pacific War will come alive as we walk through the life of Chester Nimitz, a highly respected leader of the Pacific campaign of WWII. A special dinner is planned at the Knibbe Ranch this evening. We start off with a tour aboard a hay trailer, given by the ranch owner himself, followed by an authentic Texas Barbecue!

Day 4 – Riverwalk
After breakfast at the hotel, our step-on guide will provide us a day rich with history. We’ll start with a walking tour of the elite King William Historical District. Then we’ll visit the Mission San Antonio de Valero, also known as The Alamo. After watching the IMAX movie, “Alamo: The Price of Freedom,” we’ll explore & learn about this famous fort, originally constructed in 1724. Next we’ll have lunch on our own & shopping time at the El Mercado, a large, authentic Mexican Market featuring a vast array of goods, food, and entertainment. This afternoon we’ll walk the grounds of the Mission San Jose and our guide will share about mission life from 300 years ago. Returning to the hotel late afternoon gives us a little leisure time to enjoy the Riverwalk. Tonight will be our turn to take in the splendid views from the river as we enjoy a river cruise!

Day 5 – San Antonio to Home
This morning you’ll have the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely breakfast and maybe one last stroll along the Riverwalk before we check out. Our flight will get us home in time for a night of dreams filled with memories of our San Antonio Riverwalk Christmas!
