Day 1 – Home to Rockford
Get to know your fellow passengers as we travel to Rockford. Lunch is at a charming Scandinavian restaurant. This evening check into our hotel.

Day 2 – Rockford to Cleveland
Enjoy the passing landscapes as we make our way eastward though Indiana, Ohio, and onto the Cleveland area for the night.

Day 3 – Cleveland to Gettysburg
Travel the rolling hills of the Pennsylvania countryside to Gettysburg. Our lodging will be at the beautiful Gettysburg Hotel in One Lincoln Square. This historic hotel was established in 1797 and is a unique experience. Dinner is at the famous Historic Dobbin House.

Day 4 – Gettysburg
Tour one the most important sites in the Civil War, the Gettysburg Battlefield. An expert national park guide explains how this bloody battle was the turning point in the war. View the electric map presentation and walk through the cemetery. Stand where Abraham Lincoln delivered his famous Gettysburg Address.

Day 5 – Gettysburg to Washington D.C.
Travel to Philadelphia as we pass through the heart of the Pennsylvania Dutch Countryside, Lancaster, and Valley Forge. This is a land where time has stood still for a hundred years. Arrive in Philadelphia, home of the first and second Continental Congresses and the first Capitol of the U.S. See the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall, the site of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Arrive in Washington DC for 3 nights.

Day 6 – Washington D.C.
An informative step-on guide joins us for a full day of touring. We will visit the Washington Monument and Jefferson, Lincoln, Vietnam, Korean, WW II and Franklin Delano Roosevelt and Iwo Jima Memorials. We drive by Kennedy Center, Embassy Row, National Cathedral, National Archives, and the Old Post Office. Step out near the U.S. Capitol and the White House. There will be a stop for lunch at the restored Union Station. An impressive day !

Day 7 – Washington D.C.
This morning we board a tour mobile sightseeing bus to visit Arlington National Cemetery and witness the Changing of the Guard Ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Nearby, the Eternal Flame marks the gravesites of President John F. Kennedy, Jackie and Robert Kennedy. Explore the Smithsonian Institute, known as the “Nation’s Attic,” where we will see our country’s treasures, from priceless jewels to Archie Bunker’s chair. This evening dinner is served at a local favorite restaurant.

Day 8 – Wash. D.C. to Colonial Williamsburg
Visit Mount Vernon, George Washington’s beautiful plantation home. In Richmond , a special lunch is served at the lovely Jefferson Hotel. Drive by St. John’s Episcopal Church, where Patrick Henry delivered his famous “Liberty or Death” speech, and the State Capitol Building, designed by Thomas Jefferson. Spend some time in historic Jamestown before checking into the hotel.

Day 9 – Col. Williamsburg to Charlottesville
Experience colonial life of the 1700’s as we tour the nearly 100 restored buildings and acres of gardens that comprise Colonial Williamsburg. Relive history as we listen to costumed guides share stories and see craftsmen display their tools and skills. Many colonial shops will give us an opportunity to dine and shop!

Day 10 – Charlottesville to Charleston
Historic Charlottesville, in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, was the home of Thomas Jefferson, and today we tour Monticello, his mountaintop estate. Visit the Historic Michie Tavern, a home built by Scotsman John Michie for his family. The home was later opened as an inn for the weary, hungry travelers like us; we will have lunch here.

Day 11 – Charleston to Bloomington
Cross America’s heartland, the Ohio Valley and on to Bloomington. Enjoy a farewell dinner at a delightful Bloomington restaurant.

Day 12 – Bloomington to Home
A full breakfast is served this morning before our final stretch home. As we travel, we will have the opportunity to reminisce about our country’s past that has come alive to us the past few days, and enjoy the friends that we have made on this historic trip!
