Three reasons to visit Yellowstone in the winter:

1) The beautiful scenery.

2) No crowds – watch Old Faithful with 30 people instead of 3,000!

3) See more wildlife! The animals come “down” out of the mountains in the winter.

We will travel along the Madison River and stops may include: Firehole Canyon, Fountain Paint Pots, the Midway Geyser Basin and of course we will stop at Old Faithful where we will watch this wonderful Geyser rise out of it’s wintery slumber and thrill us with a wonderful show! We will enjoy a boxed lunch before we continue our travels in the park. As we make our way back to West Yellowstone for the evening you will not forget the sights and sounds of Yellowstone in the Winter! Enjoy a wonderful included dinner tonight.

Day 5 – Yellowstone to Jackson, WY

After a good night’s sleep, we’ll check out and take a very short drive to the Grizzly & Wolf Discovery Center. After being greeted by a naturalist, enjoy exploring the center on your own, viewing majestic grizzly bears, gray wolves, river otters, birds of prey and more! Lucky for us, the Center’s grizzly bears do not hibernate. This allows us to watch their fascinating behaviors, especially since the keepers hide food in their habitat, stock the pond with live trout, and rearrange features regularly – all to stimulate the bears both mentally and physically like in the wild! Be sure to check out their newly opened Yellowstone Ecosystem Wildlife and Nature Exhibits. Departing, we’ll travel southwest into Idaho, stopping for a scenic lunch at Lakeside Lodge, boasting panoramic views of the Island Park Reservoir. Continuing south and heading back into Wyoming, our destination is Jackson, the center of activity for the famous Jackson Hole Area. Our home for the next two nights is the Rustic Inn Creekside Resort, a boutique resort full of luxurious, western charm! Settling into our private, 400 sq. ft. Superior Cabins will be easy with their vaulted ceiling, grand windows letting in the natural light, spa bathroom with rain shower, and adirondack chairs on their private veranda! The remainder of the day is yours to enjoy dinner at the Rustic Inn Bistro, warm yourself by the fireplace in the cozy lounge, or perhaps soak and swim in the clean mountain air. The resort’s pool, sauna, and hot tub are open year around.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Hotel: Rustic Inn Creekside Resort (2 Nights)

Day 6 – Jackson

We start off our morning with a sumptuous gourmet breakfast buffet. Then a special adventure is in store as we climb aboard horse-drawn sleighs for an unforgettable ride across the National Elk Refuge. With the company of our knowledgeable guide, we will get up close and personal with the thousands of elk that winter here. Between the close proximity to the wildlife and the breathtaking mountain views, have your cameras ready! What a thrill this will be! Returning to our resort right before lunchtime, you have a few options: 1) Stay at our beautiful resort where you can enjoy lunch and perhaps book a spa treatment, enjoy the resort’s scenic walking paths, or simply relax in your spacious cabin; 2) Transportation is provided the short distance to downtown Jackson where a variety of restaurants await as well as an afternoon of shopping. Tonight, we’ll gather together and head to the Gun Barrel Steak and Game house for a legendary dinner.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 7 – Jackson to Laramie, WY

Enjoy another tasty resort breakfast before we depart Jackson and travel through Grand Teton National Park. After watching the Teton’s disappear behind us, we have a unique stop ahead at the National Museum of Military Vehicles. Home to the world’s largest private collection of U.S. military ground transportation vehicles on display to the public, this museum honors the history of American freedom and the service & sacrifice of our veterans and their families. At the canteen, we’ll grab a boxed lunch to bring onto the motorcoach. We then continue our journey through Wyoming, with mountain peaks, forests, and ranges all around us. This will be a beautiful drive as we travel into Laramie for our evening stop.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Box Lunch

Hotel: Holiday Inn

Day 8 – Laramie to Lincoln, NE

Today we travel out of the mountains and head across the plains of Nebraska. During our travel day, we’ll make comfort stops as well as enjoy a fantastic lunch in Paxton at Ole’s Big Game Steakhouse, which dates back to 1933. The Drury Plaza Hotel in Lincoln is our home for the evening. This evening partake in the Drury’s Kickback Reception, which is a complete light meal.
