Day 2 – South Lake Tahoe

After a hearty breakfast, a local step-on guide joins us for a full day of touring this spectacular region. We begin by traveling the length of the east shore and across the north shore of Tahoe City. Here, you’ll have the chance to enjoy a cup of coffee and stroll along the beach in this charming town—the very first community on Lake Tahoe, founded in 1860! Next, we visit Squaw Valley, the iconic site that put Lake Tahoe on the international map as host of the 1960 Winter Olympics. Then, we make an important stop at the Tahoe City Dam & Fanny Bridge. During our walk around the bridge and dam, we’ll learn about Lake Tahoe’s fascinating waterworks as well as spot large rainbow trout and feisty brown trout beneath the dam. Ever heard of Kings Beach? Legend has it this north shore town was won by Joseph King in a poker game! Here, you’ll have time to grab lunch on your own, browse local shops, or enjoy a peaceful walk along the sandy beach. As we continue, we’ll drive by the legendary Cal Neva Resort, once owned by Frank Sinatra from 1960 to 1963. This afternoon, we’ll visit Sand Harbor State Park, widely considered the most scenic part of the lake, with its sparkling waters and dramatic granite shoreline. To cap off the day, we board the M.S. DIXIE II, an authentic paddle wheeler, for a sunset dinner cruise. As we glide across the lake against the backdrop of breathtaking Emerald Bay, enjoy the famed Tahoe sunsets, fabulous local cuisine, and live music—an unforgettable experience on the water!

Included Meals: Breakfast, Dinner

Day 3 – South Lake Tahoe

Another breakfast is included at the hotel before we board horseless, electric carriages right at our resort for a fun and musical way to see the local sights! After lunch on our own, we are treated to getting back out on the lovely, emerald waters of Lake Tahoe, this time during the day for a private, narrated cruise aboard the Safari Rose! Originally built by the 3M Company in 1959 for the ocean, the world-traveled Safari Rose is constructed of mostly Mahogany and Teak wood. We will see the unforgettable views of Emerald Bay, Fannette island, Vikings Holm and more. Truly a spectacular afternoon on stunning Lake Tahoe! Dinner and the evening are on your own at our resort.

Included Meals: Breakfast

Day 4 – South Lake Tahoe to Reno, NV

After one last South Lake Tahoe breakfast, our local guide joins us once again for a full day of touring as we’ll make our way toward Reno. Our first stop is the charming town of Genoa, Nevada’s oldest settlement, filled with quaint shops and local treasures. Next, we’ll continue on to Carson City, the state capital. We’ll stroll through its small but beautiful downtown, admire the Capitol Building, and view the Kit Carson statue. Fun fact: Nevada because the 36th state in 1864, right in the middle of the Civil War! From there, we head to Virginia City, a lively town that boomed with silver mining in the 1860s- 1880s, becoming one of the richest places on earth at the time. Its preserved Victorian-era buildings transport us back in time. Here, we’ll board a train at the original 1870 Virginia & Truckee Depot and enjoy a nostalgic ride down to Gold Hill, passing old mines, rolling hills, and even tunnels along the route. As we leave Virginia City and continue our journey towards Reno, keep your eyes peeled – this area is known for its wild horses, often spotted roaming the landscape. Before arriving in Reno, we’ll make a special stop at the Reno-Tahoe Equestrian Center, whose motto says it all: “Where it’s more than riding a horse!” Through demonstration we’ll see just what their motto means. Afterwards, a memorable evening meal will be enjoyed at the Equestrian Center. Our day concludes with checking into the Hampton Inn & Suites Reno West, where we’ll settle in for our last two nights.

Home to the legendary collection of William Fisk “Bill” Harrah, the museum preserves and showcases the automobile’s powerful impact on American society. From gleaming classics to rare gems of the road, this museum brings history to life through the evolution of the car. Later, we return to the hotel to freshen up before gathering together for a special farewell dinner, providing the perfect opportunity to share stories, laughter, and memories as we celebrate the incredible experiences of our Lake Tahoe & Reno adventure!
