Witnessing hot air balloons taking flight against this majestic backdrop will be the icing on the cake!
Day 1 – Home to Medora, ND
We will travel west today, gradually leaving the lakes and trees of Minnesota behind, making our way into the open vistas of the prairies of North Dakota. Our “home on the range” for the next 3 nights is the Rough Riders Hotel in the heart of historic Medora, providing luxury accommodations with the feel of the old west! Dinner is served right at the hotel this evening as we get to know one another & anticipate all that is in store for us the next few days.

Day 2 – Medora
Wake up early for the rally’s morning balloon launch (weather permitting) as colorful hot air balloons rise against the rugged backdrop of the Badlands. It’s a breathtaking way to start our day! Next, get ready for some good ole toe-tappin’, gospel music! We start with a fantastic array of brunch favorites, followed up with one heck of a gospel show with a full band, gospel quartet, and an inspiring message. Then we are treated to a visit at the brand-new Theordore Roosevelt Presidential Library, where interactive exhibits bring to life TR’s life, legacy, and enduring relevance! Learn about our 26th President’s Pillar Principles of citizenship, leadership, and conservation and his values to “Dare Greatly, Think Boldly, Live Passionately, and Care Deeply.” Tonight the nationally acclaimed Pitchfork Steak Fondue will delight us as chefs load steaks onto pitchforks and fondue them western style right before our eyes. Savoring our steaks and all the fixin’s as we overlook the picturesque Badlands from atop a bluff at the Tjaden Terrace. Plus, we are serenaded with western melodies performed live by members of The Coal Diggers from the Medora Musical. Following dinner is the Medora Musical. Enjoy family entertainment while in the outdoor splendor of the North Dakota Badlands in the 2,852 seat Burning Hills Amphitheater. This professionally produced, high energy, western style musical is proudly dedicated to the legacy of America’s 26th President, Theodore Roosevelt, and the time he spent here in North Dakota’s Badlands. Each show pays tribute to American patriotism and the Old West. Audiences are treated to an exciting array of songs performed by the Burning Hills Singers and accompanied by the on-stage band, the Coal Diggers. The Medora Musical also features nationally known variety acts, live horses on stage and a gospel tribute.

Day 3 – Medora
Today we have another opportunity to watch the early morning balloon launch (weather permitting) – hopefully one of the two days will bring perfect skies to fully experience this unique and majestic sight! Afterwards, we explore Theodore Roosevelt National Park with the help of a knowledgeable, local guide. Find out why Teddy Roosevelt loved this region and helped to create a national park to preserve it. The vast North Dakota prairies, rivers, and badlands are home to a wide variety of native wildlife such as herds of bison, elk, bighorn sheep, bald and golden eagles, meadowlarks, burrowing owls, prairie dogs, and several bands of wild horses. Our guide will point out wildlife & unique rock formations, and share about the park’s fascinating history. Lunch and the afternoon are yours to explore Medora at your own pace. Browse the local shops, relax at the hotel, or visit nearby attractions such as the North Dakota Cowboy Hall of Fame on your own. Tonight we gather together for a farewell dinner at our hotel.
