Day 1 – Home to Stoughton, WI

Our journey begins with a lunch stop at the beloved Norske Nook, famous for its warm “Velkommen” and irresistible pies. From there, we continue on for a visit to the Noskedalen Heritage Center, where the rich traditions of Norwegian pioneers come to life. We end our day in charming Stoughton at the Songs of Norway, enjoying a hearty, authentic Norwegian dinner followed by fascinating demonstrations in Norse history and the intricate art of rosemaling!

Day 2 – Stoughton to Decorah, IA

After breakfast, our day begins at the Livsreise Norwegian Heritage Center, dedicated to sharing the story of Norwegian immigration to the Midwest from 1825 to 1920. After lunch on your own, we journey to Decorah, IA, stopping at the remarkable Bily Clocks Museum. Home to exquisitely hand-carved clocks created by two brothers who never sold their work, each piece a masterpiece of intricate woodcraft and storytelling. We then check into our hotel for two nights before ending the day with a hearty Norwegian meatball dinner at Luther College!

Day 3 – Decorah

Today we enjoy the full experience of Nordic Fest in Decorah, a beloved annual celebration of Scandinavian Heritage. Stroll through the streets alive with music, dancing, and colorful folk costumes. Browse artisan booths filled with rosemaling, wood carving, and traditional crafts. Savor authentic Scandinavian favorites like lefse, krumkake, and lingonberry treats. From lively parades to cultural demonstrations, this festival is a joyful tribute to the traditions, flavors, and artistry of Scandinavia – right here in the Midwest!

Day 4 – Decorah to Home

This morning we say goodbye to Decorah and set our sights on Austin, MN, home to the world-famous SPAM Museum. Here, we’ll discover the surprising history of this iconic canned meat, from its WWII legacy to its place in kitchens around the globe. We’ll explore interactive exhibits, vintage advertising, and even quirky SPAM merchandise in the gift shop. Our lunch stop is at the local Pizza Ranch, the only location in the country serving up inventive SPAM pizza creations! After lunch, we settle in for the final leg of our journey, returning home with wonderful memories, treasured friendships, and a heart full of Scandinavian Spirit!
